As for equipping weapons I think you can equip two daggers or one Bow.(As a Rogue)

As for your abilities. GO to the ability tree and select which ability you wan to map. Once selected push the corresponding button you want it mapped to.

I can get two daggers but it appears as though it will let you choose which hand what dagger will be held in. Above the character's left and right shoulder it seems to want to allow you to choose which side they go on not just equipping a set of daggers but I can't figure it out.

You can click on the inventory on one of the unequipped daggers and the scroll the highlight to the hand you want to put it in.

Also this web article on Kotaku was a good reminder of the Dragon Age Lore with no spoilers, I played the first game about half way through and didn't play the second, so didn't remember much besides the Chantry is like the church and the Templars hate the Magicians, this helped me understand some of the references in Inquisition and some of the background for the start of the game explosion:

Have anyone figured out how to rank up your abilities like strength and health? I got three points in the abilities but when I highlight abilities I can't assigned points. The skill tree is fine, I'm dabbling there whenever I rank up.

Abilities are autorank i think...cant customize it
