Gee, I hadn't expected this announcement so soon; you always surprise me again!
But I'm ready for it, and if it must be, I will even upgrade to Win 7 (64bit)!
Bring 'em on!

I guess we will see many Tommies trying their luck on home defense soon;
and maybe Hasse will try to hit Nelson's Column from a Gotha - however;
a lot of new fun seems guaranteed!

Got all excited when my phone honked on the emails arrival.
Thought it was the announcement and download link of 2.0!

On that subject how big a download is it going to be?
On a satellite I can take nothing for granted...

Thank you for the reminder. I hadn't been looking at these lately and they were indeed in the spam folder.

Newsletter received but I will pass on this one... not interested by the Home Defense campaign or by Zeppelins and the proposed additional planes.
So $ 45 would be too expensive only for improved shadows and bump mapping. smile2

Can't speak for OBD since I don't yet have 2.0, but it seems to also have more enhancements to AI, content and mission balance.

To be honest Home Defense does not excite me much either however the improved terrain and campaign system does so I have no problem dropping cash for OBD and for future improvements.

Out of curiousity where did you get the figure of $45.00?
I did not see that.

EDIT: See OldHat was posting at the same time as myself.

It was in the newsletter. I did see some minor improvements to the campaign but nothing worth the price of a new game, at least for me...

Ah...they "snuck" the $45.00 down in at the bottom.
No sweat. Pennies a minute time-wise and priceless enjoyment-wise.
Keep the improvements coming please!

Each must make their own choice about the cost of the V2.0 expansion, however it might be worth bearing in mind that 1.26 is the last update for V1.0 WOFF. We can fairly safely presume that all future patches - including whatever other numerous goodies that OBD adds into the game as they did with patches for V1.0 will require the V2.0 expansion.

Personally, I am looking forward to hunting Gothas, increased Wind Buffeting and of course all the bump mapping and dynamic ground shadows. A nice little AI tweak in there also to increase the AIs decision making skills in the direction of survival is good too.

I wonder if v2.0 will require the removal of any mods including Ankor's latest shadow mod BEFORE installing the expansion.

I would guess that to be correct.
All mods should be removed prior to install not that there is all that many.
And then verified as compatible prior to reinstall.

And may I add that is a very good reason to only install mods with JSGME because it is a one click add and removal with no concern for where files are at!

The package sound great to me. Hunting Zeppelins is something I have missed since the original Red Baron 1. The new shadows and bit mapping is spectacular. Going up against a Gotha is going to be a challenge, almost as difficult as flying one successfully. Adding wind buffering and making the AI more realistic will add a new level. Well done devs I'm looking forward to the release.

While I probably won't do a home defense campaign, I am hoping that we may still encounter Zeps and Gothas as part of our regular patrols if we are in the right place at the right time. Can any developers comment on that?

The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...
