High over the Front
Getting back in to my Jasta 11 career and really doing well.
The switch to Realistic FM (from my earlier accidental Easy FM flights) has made all the difference in the world.
Dogfighting the Pups and Neiuports has gone well, in the right situation of course, and I am gaining victories.
HoweverI just followed a Pup in a tight corkscrew dive. I have never seen an enemy do that before but he did and finally crashed in the city of Lens.

My question is what kind of warning signs does the Alb, or any aircraft, give when you are ready to part ways with your wings? I have yet to have it happen and would rather my first experience not be a fatal one!

WOFF gives you the warning "Over-G" or something like that (as we don't have a pilot's belly- or bum-feeling to judge).
Then it will tell "Damage through high G".
But if you perform a steep dive with too much throttle in an Albatros D.III or D.V,
there may not be time for these warnings - the lower wings will break apart.

If you must dive steeply in an Albatros D.III or D.V model, then reduce throttle almost fully,
and don't dive longer than a 100 meter fall. Still no guarantee...

The Albatros D.II was rugged - it didn't have that sesquiplane wing.

I don't know specifics about any particular aircraft, but what seems to work is you use the blip with or without rudder for tight turns and only for a few seconds in a steep dive until you get the "over-g" warning then level off to bleed out speed and rinse and repeat. Has worked everytime in very steep dives on all craft I've tried so far.

PS: Never pull out hard from a steep descending dive - that may break even the strongest wings.

I test out any new craft I'll be flying in quick mission in free flight and then against EA in combat.

Whew. Guess I have been lucky so far then. I have been throwing the Alb around like it was a P-47. Ok...maybe like a Spitfire.
Over-G message?
Don't I need a setting on for that to appear?
So far I have never seen any message such as "Auto Pilot" etc.

You should also start to hear the airframe creak and groan with increasing g forces. If you start to hear that, do your best not to increase the g load, you aren't in danger yet (usually) but you are approaching the limit.

Excellent. Thank you gentlemen.
If I die then it shouldn't be from tearing my wings off...getting shot off maybe...but not torn off.
S!

When I'm in a plane with no speedometer, I listen for the sound of the air in a dive and can tell when approaching "TOO FAST"

Yes. It's a good message to have.
Since I used to see "Auto Pilot" flash before I guess I accidentally turned off Messages.
Luckily I am still around to talk about it. Speedometer!?! Bah!

Over-G Damage can come very quickly (apparently)- I had the Wings of an Alb3Early torn off in a freaky maneuver, once, without any warning. Okay, I admit, I really begged for it... nevertheless, the Albs withstand a lot of punishment.
If you don't want the Messages on Screen, try the "Human-Meter" by checking the Over-G Effects in the Workshop Menu... don't let your Plane do things, that would make you unconscious LOL

Before Over-Speed Damage takes place, the Plane generates Noises so terrifying, that you'll "step off the Gas" voluntarily.
