Let me be the first to say, that PSA is awesome. I hope people take it in and follow through. I never served because I listened to the wrong people. That's a regret, I live with. Still, the good that has come of my decision is that I met my wife and we have two awesome sons that are serving in the USMC. They volunteered selflessly because we raised them to believe in God, family, country, and duty.
I've met and befriended several veterans who served in the Vietnam and Korean wars. Their stories will give you chills when you hear what they endured. Still, many of them persevered by holding on to hope, loyalty, patriotism, brotherhood, and many values that seem to be somewhat nonexistent today. The one thing they have in common is that they believe in the idea of freedom and service.
As a teacher, I struggle with the new generation of "entitled" kids. They do not even respect the pledge or our National Anthem. They have no sense of service, patriotism. Their only concern is "what are you going to do for me today?" I try to explain to them that the way of life they take for granted would not be possible if not for the many brave men and women who served and currently serve.
I am one who agrees that our veterans deserve a lot more than we give them. I'm going to share the video with my colleagues.
Thanks for sharing.
