The only electronic arcade game that ever impressed me
was run on a vector graphics monitor, and I used to just
call it "Tank", but I see it was actually called Battlezone.
It was a first person real 3D perspective view display
(it was based on an earlier B&W non-vector, non 3D game
called Tank by the same publisher); when everything else
was mickeymouse isometric character map graphics, at best,
or more likely simply 2D character map. It was revolutionary,
even though it could barely keep up in real time by using
a wireframe world on a vector monitor. But the display was
generated and computed for the operator's moving POV,
simply unheard of at the time.
