The review at Rock, Paper, Shotgun seem to hold it in high regard.

Anyone here tried it ?

I decided to restart playing CoP with a mod a while back. Tried the Misery mod, and it was just too brutal. If you are looking for something VERY challenging, it is good. I found myself getting too frustrated and not enjoying the game.

I am playing through again using the Complete mod, and it is very good.

Haven't played for a while, will have to fire it up again....

I took a hiatus after finishing Complete, saw Misery and installed it. Like Mojo said, it is very challenging, especially the stronger mutants and anomalies. They were hard enough in Complete. Misery changes the game mechanics to the point where it is like playing a completely different game.
For example in Misery, I spent a lot more time repairing equipment, with the overhauled repair system. I recall that clean food was a premium and I ended up chasing radiated food with vodka most of the time. Also, things like being mindful of whether to use a scope when it is raining, as they get ruined by condensation.
I had quite a few CTD with Misery, but cant say that it was more than Complete, as that one crashed also. My experience is from an earlier version, Misery 1.X, cant remember which. Hope that helps.

I've been doing a new play through with Misery, and it's brutal!

But after playing for several hours and loading/reloading hundreds of saves; I've found some very annoying things with the mod:

It basically handicaps the player so that it's more challenging; I hate when games do this. Why am I fighting for my life when the rest of the Zone seems to be doing just fine? AI will have infinite ammo, but if you kill them and loot their bodies, 90% of the time they have no ammo. When they do drop ammo, it's usually less then a full mag, and some parts/junk.

Performance - with all of the new items and scripts for each item, when you carry more than ~250 items (bullets included), performance will start to tank. Performance will also drop if you have a ton of items in one of your stash boxes. In a game/mod that focuses on survival and making everything count; it's kind of a pita when you have to sell gear just to get better fps

There are some mods that are based on Misery, but try to balance it out a little better. I just dl'd Les Miserables , but I haven't tried it yet. It seems a little more down my alley

Overall: Be prepared to get frustrated, and SAVE SAVE SAVE!!!
