So the Girlfriend wants the boys to have Live Gold accounts. Since M$ got rid of the family pack. This will cost me a pretty penny. 3 accounts would be about 180 USD. My question is how do you guys renew? Do you find cheap cards or just renew it automatically? Also is there any Black Friday sales for Live Gold?

I always pay as I go. I got trapped in an auto renewal stunt M$ pulled but I got that fixed asap. Unless they have changed something yet again and you don't want it to auto renew,......hold up, I don't remember now what you have to do to avoid this???? Its been awhile. I think don't pay with your credit card directly through Live because it WILL automatically initiate an auto renewal feature when you do this.

I ended up just going onto Amazon and buying a digital code that I then typed into Live to get gold and it would not do the auto renew thing.

Does amazon give you the code via email or just send a card out?

I usually pickup the 12 month cards on sale, they go on sale for $40 every now and then.

I know M$ stopped the family thing, but I thought I read it was replaced with something else where a family and multiple users used the same one... if your all in the same house on the same network. Might want to research that, I will try later.

I think its Home Gold and from what I read its limited to the Xbox one console. Seems like they dont care about the 360.

From what I have read its not network but console. So on my one console everyone could have a different user ID and play that way.

Really does me no good since the kids got a 360.

Oh well what can you expect form M$.

I buy the digital download version off Amazon. That way you get the code instantly via their store page/receipt that I can then just turn around and immediately use to add live to my 360. They also sell the physical cards.

I buy the code cards now, the FIFA hack a few years back forced me to remove all payment options for Security reasons.

I've seen them as low as 39.99 for 12 months. there maybe 24 month subscription cards on sale for Black Friday.

I buy codes from amazon. I no longer trust M$ with my money details. They charged for for quite a few months after I canceled with the info from a credit card that I had canceled. Then it expired and they still charged me. If any person had done this it would have been illegal but because it was M$ everyone was just like, eh what can you do. So FINALLY I got it sorted out and they somehow managed to get my new card number and start charging it (which I NEVER gave them.)

Had to threaten legal action in order to get them to stop charging me.

Now I use amazon cards.

Yeah I don't trust them with my CC either ever again, since they let my XBL account be hacked via the FIFA13 demo and they let them charge hundreds of dollars of FIFA cards points to my CC.

I just buy points cards and renew cards via amazon or sales.

Dang Master I'd been majorly angry! Somehow got your credit card info without you giving it to them?! I think anyone who would have done the same thing would have been called a criminal, maybe dragged to court or at least heavily fined and warned. Good grief. What a sucky thing for Microsoft to do. Oh well they have their reward. They'll soon learn its not going with them.
