If you have 1.1 and don't want a large download again, then I suggest playing 1.1 if you just want to see the basic progress. What Daskal displayed in his video is the result of this summers work at 1.1.
I suspect the intent for 1.2 was to clean up the install of 1.1 and update it with the work done in the spring and summer. Slomo has put a lot of work into adjusting the eye candy aspects of the game engine. He did the labor to learn and tweak files to find the best of what the engine could do. 1.1 and 1.2 are by far the best examples of what the game engine can do.
