Finally found a thermometer. I haven't overheated until the latest exp patch, which is a ton better than .50 currently on stable.
Running with Gorka mil jacket and assault vest took about 25 minutes to get overheating messages, tried hanging in the shade for a minute, you never know what they may have implemented
Kept on overheating so i ripped my gear off and waited another minute, and went from overheating to hot although temp still showed 38.
After running for another minute i was back at overheating so gear off again and went for a dip in the local
Once i had the rapidly cooling off message, about a minute in the water, i bailed out and hit Zeleno then went heli hunting for about twenty minutes and the hot indicator had not popped up again.
On a side note, one handed pistol holding is much neater than previous, and the Derringer is a fun little gun with a cool little recock animation.
Nice been waiting a while to jump back in and try DayZ again. I think I'll be ready to try it out after the next patch, a lot of things are starting to get better and others are getting in the right direction.

Hopefully exp improves even more so when they drop the next stable it will be a real winner. Starting to get to that point that there is now a lot of stuff to do instead of just run around and endlessly gear up and then have nothing to do.
I'm pretty sure they have. The boots I'm wearing now don't seem to be wearing down.
To answer my own question about 5.45mm ammo, I came across an AKSU yesterday. Very nice looking model. I had to leave it behind though in favour of my SKS, since there are no magazines to be found anywhere for the AKSU. Same goes for the AKM. I carried one of those around for three days with about 120 rounds for it, but ultimately dropped it for an SKS since I couldn't find any magazines for it. I do wish they'd balance the weapons, ammo and mags.
Yeps, auto weapons, mags for them and ammo clips are a rare find now. But the way the game seems to be heading is more and more a survival sim (farming, fishing, hunting) and less and less a combat sim. I like the sniper element though, and it is still possible with a lot of patience to get a Mosin, scope, suppressor and ammo.
And with even more patience to kill a bandit with it. My kill count now is 8 bandits (anyone in full mil gear going house to house with rifle in their hands is fair game to me - I leave anyone who is unarmed, or carrying just a pistol alone. Plus anyone in company of others because I died too many times trying to snipe a group!)
Had fun last time I was on a Mosin hunt...I had SKS (w ammo) and a pistol (no ammo) and ran into a guy in Novo who had just spawned. He started running away so I chased him and told him to stop or I would shoot him. Then I gave him some food and the pistol. Told him I was going to NWAF and he tagged along. Somewhere along the line he found some ammo in a house (or had it with him all along) and I didn't realise it until he shot a zed that was attacking us. Tense moment right there but he just put away the gun and we kept dragging along to NWAF. I really wanted him to hang in there at NWAF so we could watch each other's backs and thought we had an agreement on that, but when we got to the boundary fence he just said goodbye and logged. Dangit. Aint no one trusts no one anymore!
