Well, I completed my training and got posted out to RFC 3... but I was promised Parasols AND Bristols. All I got was parasols!

Now don't get me wrong, it's a lovely plane. The problem is the jumped up cavalry officer I'm ferrying around like his chauffeur who can barely use the lovely lewis gun GHQ has seen fit to award him with!

I've heard that some clever chaps have bolted a lewis to the side of a Bristol... but I can't seem to find anywhere flying them!

So... will they appear at RFC 3 if I'm patient? (15th of May, 1915), am I too late? Or is there a better squadron out there to get one?

It looks like the middle and lower ranks have the Bristol at the time period you're at, but later even they get the Morane. In fact that squadron flies Moranes until October 1917. Good luck with that. Scan the squadrons and find one that flies the Bristol and assign yourself to it. They do have the Lewis shooting past the propeller arc to the side.

Stiffy;

You can go to the create a pilot screen, select the squadron and then forward the time month by month or year by year to see what aircraft they get and when. It takes some time but it may help you.

That's odd, not a single Bristol in the squadron, and I'm only a sergeant! I wonder if it's bugged...

Also don't forget you can transfer to another squadron when you find the one you want. Don't forget to ensure the setting in "Workshop" is set to "always transfer"

ok, worked it out! they only appear if someone in the squadron is a captain! Shame, it would be better if they just went to the highest rank available.

Started a new career as a captain to unlock the Bristol!

I was wondering about this. Can you explain what you mean?

Quite simply, if RFC 3 doesn't have any pilots with the rank of captain or higher, RFC 3 doesn't have any Bristol Scouts. If you join as a captain a bristol scout magically appears for you to fly. I suspect they had to do it this way due to some limitation with CFS3 as it seems a bit of an odd way to do things, I would rather the squadron had a few bristols available no matter what the highest rank currently held is.

Yeah, the Scout rocks band
Try out drifting sideways behind someone, you are pursuing - you can shoot "straight forward" this way.

As time goes on and the older planes are phased out eventually you'll all get Bristols. Next time when creating a pilot use the Manual Squad Deployment and forward the date until you know you'll get the plane you want if the Squadron has a mix of planes.

That's really quite a nice feature, got to grips with the manual deployment now. unfortunately though it seems that Bristols never become available to the lower ranks as they leave service beforehand. But I've started a new career from January 1915 in the hope I will get promoted to captain before they disappear smile Having a blast, I have 5 confirmed kills in a Parasol!
