Is it worth it for the current price of $9.99 on steam for the original and expansion?

If you like a fairly arcade game about the German or British Navies, then yes. I have both. Visually good. Lacking in realism and eventually shelved.

"I have only two men out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold."

I enjoyed the demo, and yeah the visuals are top notch. I think I'll go ahead and get them, if I get 18 hours or more out of them a $1/per hour is well worth it.

So I've spent about 5 hours total between PT Boats and South Gambit at this point. There are certainly some issues with the stock game in terms of realism, mission design, etc. but it certainly is fun and rewards good lateral thinking. The most interesting part of it all, is that the game is basically built on a sandbox naval engine. A good mod team could easily create an PTO mod that has US PT boats and their Japanese counterparts, and do so with a very high degree of accuracy and granularity in simulation. For that matter some tweaking to the stock game, can easily fix/improve a lot of areas. There are already a lot of little things that you don't see in other sims, that are here. In a close chase of an enemy MTB that you have to prevent from escaping? Drop your depth charges and fire your torpedoes to get rid of the weight, you'll gain speed as the boats weight decreases.

Overall well worth the $14.99 I paid for the pair, and an enjoyable experience.

Thanks for your thoughts. I am considering the purchase.

Airplanes are now built to carry a pilot and a dog in the cockpit: the pilot's job is
to feed the dog, and the dog's job is to bite the pilot if he touches anything...
