Hi,
in FF and BMS (?) you can enable the mouse to look around in the 3D-Cockpit and also to zoom in/out with the mouse wheel. Can this somehow be enabled in F4AF? I don't want to use the joystick for that because I always must keep the hat pressed, which is no good.

Thanks!

IIRC, you can use mouse to pan the view by right click/hold and dragging the mouse. No clickable features in F4AF 3D pit of course, and gauges/instruments not accurate. I only used 3D in F4AF when CCIP bombing and dogfights.

Accidental double post...sorry!

Hi schnidrman,
thanks to respond, I sure will try this out. Still I'm playing F4AF besides BMS for simple campaign training, so all this is good to know.
I have bought a new input device with throttle, so I try to setup with some key mappings, but the mouse can only be mapped for some special and few things. I must get used to that hat...

Thanks!

I should probably add that a head tracking device is very recommended. There are several options available. I use TrackIR5 and at $150.00 USD, it probably tips the scales in head tracking cost. If that is out of budget, there are other options, like Free Track (IIRC) etc. which usually involve a web cam or PS3 eye. Not hard to find if you do a internet search.

Switching from a Joystick to a HOTAS was a huge boost in immersion, but having a head tracking device was even better.
If I had to give one up, I would keep the head tracking.

Yes, right, a TrackIR is the top option. I think soon or late I will get it together with a good 2-piece device (throttle + joystick) like the Saitek X52 product.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Did this work for you? I haven't played AF for a couple of years and don't remember if it is accurate. Thanks!

Yes it works smile2
No zoom with the wheel, but that's ok. I currently have 2 joysticks enabled, a Speedlink Black Widow for the throttle on my left and a Logitech Wingman on my right. This gives me 4 additional buttons for a total of 11. The only nuisance is the keyboard, don't know where to put it...
Or maybe I gomma break the BW in 2 smash (I heard that axe attacks are on the run these days...)

Now that you mention the mouse wheel, try this...Click/hold mouse wheel, and drag mouse to slew radar cursors in 3D pit. I think I remember this feature in AF and it was quite handy if you were limited on HAT switches. Let me know if that works as well. If you hadn't jogged my memory, I wouldn't have remembered it!
copter

Edit: Might also work in 2D pit.
