As I have also said.. in just about every other post... I don't like the unlocks either..bnut these unlocks are not quite the same as they are in say WT. You are not unlocking aircraft but features on aircraft..and the fetures are more reminiscent of the mods in RoF. Because of the hysteria and inaccurate information in some circles around them I thought that they were things that were like power ups off sorts.. and when RoF first came out I hated it.. the online only thing alone blew it for me.. but once 777 took over and it changed a bit.. and actually once BoS was announced.. I got into it a little more.. and I saw that the mods were not quite what some had made them out to be for one thing .. and they came with a price for another thing.. as in a price in performance... and they also were kinda task specific.. balloon guns etc...
I think I have stated many times over what my concept of the ideal sim is.. and BoS falls short in many of those areas.. but it is not a total pig and that is the gist of all my posts. If BoS was a totally pi$$ poor product I wouldn't support it at all.. just because it does not hit all my concepts of what makes an ideal sim doesn't mean it is a total pig either.
IL2 was not perfect but that model as far as features and scalability, access etc is IMO the baseline which any sim developer should start with because in spite of what it got wrong it got so much so very right... These guys chose to go a slightly different route.. I don't like it but it isn't my call, nor is it anyone else's and all the whining and crying will not change that.. I also find it difficult to conceive how one feature can turn a product from a cute chick you wouldn't mind being seen with at all to someone whose number you have to remove from your phone.. I dunno ..maybe it's me but the unlocks as much as I don't like them are for me not bad enough to make me drop the sim or goo on a smear campaign against it. The unlocks are not the only thing that I do not like either ... ther eis other stuff.. but the unlocks seem to be the thing that has everyone's shorts in a know the most..
Supporting something which isn't liked, makes that akin to flogging a dead or dying horse, eh

I don't get where you are coming from with that. I can't speak for others.. just myself and maybe it is because I am more of a glass half full kind of person so for me supporting something that I like but don't completely 100% is not a stretch as long as I like more than I dislike. I am not a 50-50 person. If I have something that I could take or leave.. I usually leave it.. For me BoS is more take than leave. There are some things about BoS that I don't like for now and I am confident that they will change.. and some that I don't like that I am pretty sure won't change. For me this is like a steak. You take the meat and leave the bone.

Pretty much... With things being all or nothing.. would a racer got for a shooter.. or a shooter go for a sim?

but the unlocks seem to be the thing that has everyone's shorts in a know the most.. Yea, having things locked for no real reason seems like a dumb way to go about things.

Yes, they should at least disconnect the SP unlocks from the MP system so that the onliners dont have to play offline. The devs could score a few points here, they would look like the company who actually listens to their customers. Bearcat is right about the fact that we should keep out fingers crossed for BoS because if it fails then the future of ww2 sims is not too bright.I'm not saying that you should give your money away just to keep the genre alive but be reasonable when reviewing the game. Btw I havent got BoS yet, I'm waiting for the fmb and the summer map but I'd like to build missions and skin for this game. At www.sas1946.com we got a thread about the good things in BoS: http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,43182.0.html and one about the negative aspects: http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,43333.0.html

Well now that its out in the open that people are getting paid to defend the game on forums its hard to take anything seriously any more. Proof, please.

You're not really going to down that old old path are you? lol, "could you be more clearer?"

Thanks for pointing out there are bones in it, though in this case, the bone is unable to be separated from the horse fle err, "steak". Of note is your sophistry seems to be turning into casuistry

There is no proof that can be shown here, so obviously it couldn't have possibly happened, right? If there were proof, I'd be interested in seeing it. Something this serious requires just that. I severely dislike where the game has gone in terms of design, but I won't stoop to kneejerk and baseless accusations.

regardless of actually being paid or not... there are certainly some company sock puppets present

This may have been posted before...but here are links to a few essays on why reviews matter http://kotaku.com/metacritic-matters-how-review-scores-hurt-video-games-472462218and what happened when some university student purportedly cracked their algo http://kotaku.com/the-case-of-the-flawed-metacritic-study-463147686The bottom line is apparently this site with all its flaws is used by the industry to negotiate from. So with those stakes at hand....and the ability to post as many reviews as money can buy here...what's to stop them? No user reviews don't make their official rating..the official rating comes from sampling professional reviewers....but the correlation between reviews and contracts is made quite clear in these articles. So..again...the Internet provides for at least pseudo anonymity, it would not be hard...but could be risky (if a paid reviewer later admitted to "payola")

You know what, I saw a person on the BOS threads posting nothing but good about it and attacking any other sim in a nice way by downplaying it, saying how hard it was to install patches and such. I called that person out and said I don't care if you have a 150 post count I've never seen you here or heard of you I think you're paid to post here. The response was that I was paranoid and should get a tinfoil hat..or along those lines. But its true, I've been over there since day one and have never seen this person or any post from this person at all. Hum it all makes sense now. I know there are some companies that do pay people to post on any social places how great their product is and defuse any naysayers, so has it come to this? I like BOS without the unlocks but I'm still a troll I guess.
