I'm playing the free Steam weekend and have only done a handful of training missions so far. What I have seen has been really good (and funny, too). Looks amazing and feels less clunky and obtuse than Arma2. I read some reviews and a common complaint seems to be (at least when it was released) that there was not much content for it.

I'm guessing that in the year since, there's a lot of good user made (and official?) content.

But I don't have the time of patience to deal with fussy modding requirements, so I'd like to know if it's easy to get this game up running with a lot of user made content and other goodies. It runs great on my systems, so it's mostly ease of getting going that I am concerned about.

Damn impressive game, so far!

Hi peppergomez,

Yes IMO mods are pretty easy for Arma3. You've got choices on how to do it, too.

These can be done with old fashioned shortcuts, or the addon manager built into Arma3. If you prefer an all-in-one type setup, you can try some of the unified launchers/download managers.

OK cool. I was hoping it'd be an easy process.

This game is pretty amazing, even judged simply from an engine/architectural standpoint. One heck of a world they've built.

Very easy process. Just download and enable in the menu then restart the game and then you are ready to go.

Hahah! Well staying alive in Arma is always half the game.

Most infantry units are equipped with pretty effective body armor (given the slightly future setting). And they can be vicious in nailing critical shots on you in a very short snap.

So keep this in mind when you are in face-off sorts of situations. Knowing you can easily lose these fights, pull back and make the AI work to get the kill, where you can maximize an opportunity to get off a couple of quick bursts worth of shots while they are moving or searching.

Heck the first week of getting my head aruound this game is going to be just remapping the keys because I am a southpaw. So many many keys and key combinations. Which is great, but confusing.

Now I'm wishing that I'd kept my TrackIR. At least I still have a HOTAS

Yep, using cover and movement to advantage.

I'm a lefty, too. I know others left handed Arma players who have done a remap, I myself never did. There were so many controls that I just mouse righty and use the stock keybinds. Arma is the only shooter game I have ever played with right handed mouse.

There are AI mods which make the AI a tad more intelligent and less sniperish.
