I'm debating whether to get the standard version or pay extra for the bonus aircraft. Thoughts? Please note that I'm not well versed with WWII aircraft.

Thanks!

The Steam thing I can't help you with .. I prefer to not use it. The extra aircraft are IMO well worth the expense. I always did like the La-5 even in IL2 so it was a no brainer for me.

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

I would go with the standard just to see if you like the sim. You could always add the La5 and 190 later. If you are just going to dogfight, the standard is the way to go, the yak and 109f4 are the best for that.

If money is an object that go with the standard version - plenty to play with.
If the extra cost doesn't bother you than get the extra aircraft - they're worth it.

Could someone explain if BOS if buying through their website and interface is a similar experience as that of Rise of Flight? Meaning if we download it from their site, do you get an activation key and can you play offline as in ROF?

Internet

Coot,

The game interface (GUI) is easy to navigate and use. Maybe a little more simple than RoF one.
Graphic configuration is simple, just choose between three pre-set modes.

Sound too, just select you hardware - headphone or speakers.
And set in game volume at 100% and reduce for comfortable level in Windows mix,
or you lost some sounds, like hits in your plane.

But controls, specially if you choose use CEM (complex engine management) is a bit confuse to understand - translation/names used - and to set, some commands are interdependent.
But since is based in RoF, don't cause more problem for users of this game.

To get the game go to game site, create a account (advisable create a new exclusive email for use in this account - make easy sold the key later if are the case) and buy the game (or buy from Steam, if you are Steam user).

You will receive the key via email, then log in your account on game site and register the key.

After download a client that will download the necessary files and install the game automatically.

Done, open the game insert your account email an password, save.

After this, if you are connected in Internet you have option to play in Multiplayer servers or play the SP Campaign (for get the famous Unlocks). smile

Or if you are ofline you have option to play Single Missions (actually ~15) and use the Quick Mission Builder (QMB) that generates short quick action missions.
