I got a new mail in my inbox regarding MWO and I can't believe it. First, they offered Clan mechs, with the full collection coming in at $240. Then they have a second wave with the full lot coming in at $120, with a Vulture/Mad Dog as a bonus if you are willing to fork out $240 + $120. And then there's the Inner Sphere mech lot with $80.

How the heck did they price these things? Do people actually pay for these stuff??? At £440, that's a good piece of gaming hardware or 10+ AAA title games. How is the price for these "upgrades" justified?

Hard to say. I've purchased a lot of games over the years that I didn't like.... many at "new" prices exceeding 40 USD. Some with less than an hour of total play time. Bad spending.

For the amount of enjoyment and play time I've gotten in MWO, I don't feel TOO dopey about picking up the Phoenix pack for 80 bucks last year. I've played MWO far more than anything else since Joint Operations was alive and kicking.

I'm not buying the Clan packs, I've got a couple of them with CBills but I find I still enjoy the innersphere stuff more. The new inner sphere pack is a bit tempting to me but not for 80 bucks.

I guess for a "new-ish" player that has played long enough to know they really like the game, the 80 dollar pack for 12 mechs and a bunch of premium time and other stuff might be worth it.

In the meantime, I'm still having fun with my Dragons and Awesomes and Blackjacks. Maybe I'm weird.

Robots are stealing my luggage.

I've enjoyed what I've spent on the game. Other than the Direwolf that is. And Heavy Metal, but that's ok.
I didn't see anything in the next clan pack that calls out to me, nor with the IS pack. Maybe if we get more specs on the mechs, but I doubt it.
I'm pretty well set.
Throw me something unique and interesting that suits my play style and I'll consider it though.

I did find the pricing odd, but at least odd going the right direction. Maybe they're settling in better with what works? It could reflect research on the amounts spent per customer and packages bought on the clan packs. Sell for less but 3 times as many for more profit. Makes sense. Not having PGI involved now might be coming into play too. Fewer mouths to feed with them out of the picture.

As Jim Cramer would say, "Don't buy!"

Don't do it. I've spent 60 bucks, have 50+ mechs, 13 empty bays, 7300 MC left and 106 million c-bills in the bank. Don't do it! Don't be a victim.

If they gave us 20 new maps in a pack plus a new game mode similar to Mechwarrior Living Legends/Battlefield 1942 ticket-style respawn and control, then I'd pay them more money... or a full single player game.

Ugh, the last thing I want is for this to get MORE Battlefield like. I barely like Conquest as it is, and respawns have always been the bane of my gaming existence. Give me realistic objectives, something that might happen in some kind of mech vs mech war. Not standing there watching a counter and magically coming back to life. LOL

Sure, it can be a lot better, but just because there's so much potential.
I've been a little burned out lately, and I'm not happy with some balancing changes....but then again I get back the fun of rebuilding, which is half the game, so I actually find myself more interested again.

Well the reason I like respawn is it creates more dynamic gameplay flow. MWO as it is now is deathball -> nascar circuit in one circle and then someone wins. Every game. Every single time.

By respawning at various points you break that cycle and end up having dynamic, shifting engagements with various spots of the map seeing action from multiple directions. It becomes a more cerebral experience instead of the steaming heap that it is right now.

Mechwarrior Living Legends was a LOT of fun.

To me, respawns takes proper and enjoyable tension, tactics and realism--with consequences-- and exchanges it for chaotic, hectic, nerve wracking, arcade, run and gun insanity.
I can play BF and enjoy it from time to time, and I get how the tickets attempt to mimic a large size force with reinforcements, but I by far prefer tension and working harder to stay alive. I'll take no respawn blind siege in Ghost Recon over BF any day. Even trying to play a respawn game like it has no respawns isn't the same.
