There was a lot of falling on swords going around there, I think. There's no way that Roy Williams didn't know about what was going on, though. And to think that Jim Martin said that his investigation had uncovered everything there was to uncover.
I have a friend who was finishing an actual doctorate in a department related to the African American Studies program a few years ago, and she was trying desperately to finish her thesis and get out of there before the ish hit the fan. She was doing really, really important work in Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire- hopefully the inevitable blowback from this won't impact those that didn't play any part in this scandal.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk.
Roy can eat it, along with his complete fake crap of being a "good ol' boy."

Wonder what it might do to the perceived value of having a degree from UNC? I know it would be financial suicide to do so, but that school would be better off if they just canned the Atheltics department completely, for a few years at least. Cut out the cancer.

It happens at every NCAA school with student athletes. There are courses they take for GPA boosters. It happens everywhere. Chapel Hill just got caught.
UNC won't get the death penalty. The NCAA won't ever do that again. It didn't just destroy an athletic program, it ruined an entire conference. A lot of schools lost tons of money in the SWC. The NCAA paid dearly for their decision.

Too many very, very well-connected alumni to be able to do something like that- it would mean the rest of the UNC system would take a massive hit, sad to say.

... I know it would be financial suicide to do so, but that school would be better off if they just canned the Atheltics department completely, for a few years at least. Cut out the cancer. Wish they could do that. Just call it NFL Jr. and be done with it. Pay the players, and if they don't make it to the big leagues, send them to trade school for free. Give them something they can actually use. And if they can get into college by their brains alone (something that many of them can do), then give them that opportunity, funded by the league.

My dad pointed out that even with all that cheating, their football team was unable to win. Ha ha. UNC has become the new face of Fail.
