(not for a PWEC discussion, just hope they get them all with no more surprises)

A soldier was shot Wednesday in the Canadian capital of Ottawa, and dozens of shots were fired minutes later in the nearby halls of Parliament, where lawmakers barricaded themselves in their offices for safety, witnesses and authorities said.

Authorities said that one gunman was shot by security forces and at least one was on the loose. Prime Minister Stephen Harper was safely escorted from the scene, his spokesman said.

Police told the Canadian television network CTV that shots were also fired at Rideau Centre, a shopping mall in the area, but a spokesman for the company that owns the mall said everyone was safe and there was no shooting.

Ottawa Hospital said it had received three patients, but the number of wounded and the extent of the injuries were not clear.

The attack came at a time of heightened concern about terrorism in Canada. On Monday, a man described as a radical Islamic convert ran down two Canadian soldiers with his car, killing one.

And NBC News reported earlier this week that Canadian officials have been concerned about the potential for knife and gun attacks there, including on military personnel, because of the nations involvement in international fight against ISIS.

The first shots Wednesday were reported just before 10 a.m. at the national war memorial, steps away from Parliament. Authorities said the soldier was taken to the hospital.

Inside Parliament, which was in session, a volley of gunfire could be heard for about 10 seconds in a video posted online by the Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail. Sen. George Baker, a member of Parliament, told MSNBC from his office that about 50 shots had been fired.

I'd wait before paying any real attention. Early reports are usually error prone. The media does not have a good record on getting out the correct info in its rush to report.

True, and not like they have an official report stating it either. When things go down at multiple locations though, you can't help but think of 9/11.

If it is multiple locations and if they are related. I'll wait.

Soldier on guard at the War Memorial has died.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

When the Boston bombing occurred, Justin Trudeau (who want to be Prime Minister one day) said that we should not be quick to condemn terror attacks, but rather listen to what they are upset about and try and see what we can improve in our society so that they feel more included. Perhaps they just need a hug.

Well, Justin, do you still want to hug them.

Too bad...no reports of Justin trying to hug the guy to make him feel better about Canada.

A .45 to the brain would be just about as helpful to society as I can think of. A hug and a .45 if you want to be touchy feely about it.

Prayers and thoughts for the loved ones of those who perished. Also, bravo zulu to the guy who took that skell out. Great guns, man.
