Dear pilots,

We present you a new game in the IL-2 Sturmovik series. It was both hard and enjoyable to work on it. It’s a pleasure to be creating a continuation of the game that once won the world’s recognition in the genre - yes, it’s no easy to make something worth everyone’s attention. We’ve been persistent on our way to the dream, we started as players and turned into makers. The very game release proves that tenacious dreamers can accomplish their goals.

And the goal was to create the game withing minimum time because the IL-2 series had lived through some hard times and significant gaps between releases. We worried that players might forget the genre in the wreckless rithm of modern entertainment industry, and that we might release a game too complicated and slow for players. But we never lost our focus on the very core of flight simulation. Physics, aerodynamics, ballistics, and precise recreation of military vehicles. We wanted you not only know but also - feel like you’re flying. Feel yourselves surrounded by the clean ice-cold air, feel the power of a combat machine in your hands. The game remains on the base of persistent and continuos wish to improve your skills. And we, keeping this base gameplay untouched, added the best features of other genres to create one of the most hardcore and honest games on the market.

We enjoyed making the IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad, that was so cool, and we hope you’ll enjoy playing it as well. We’re sure that the game will work correctly on your PCs but we are ready to make all necessary corrections if something goes wrong. If you encounter any technical difficulties, please, submit a ticket to our customer support, or tell us about your issue on the forum or on our social network pages - we’ll read it. Well, we’ve taken off, all parameters are ok. We’ll see what’s next later, when we climb a little higher. Thank you for your enthusiasm and your trust.

Thanks for your support,

IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad Team

"Finished". If so then this is a dead duck.

"Released" is a better wording. Now the work of correcting bugs (and bad design decisions) should start in earnest. There is a lot of room for development of AI, of mission context and presentation. While to produce a totally correct simulation is a *lot* of work, there are many examples where this hasn't been "dry" with a smattering of useless "unlocks" to add to the irritation.

So here I go again, just 2 cents of one of the many potential customers.

Dear Team,

Sincere congratulations on the release of BOS. I bought more than everything of ROF.
I hope it will go the same way as ROF, where my money went happely to 777s way and cool content my way!

Eventough presently not installed since of lately (...), I will not be a party pooper, suffice it to say that I hope that you will take feedback of a large part of your customers even more serious...

Thanks for all the hard work, Zol.

Your post is still there Zoltann

So do I but for me personally this game is a stillborn!

If they ever release a demo I will give it a honest try like I did with WT but no way I spend my money on XP crap and other lockdowns. No agenda, just my opinion!

Would not say that, just a case of a series of bad decisions

Yay! Managed to complete an expert Pe-2 mission without mashing the gear on landing! Still a little bouncy.

Congrats team! I hope and wish for great success and to see much more from the team with improvements and with addressing people's concerns.

I remember being so excited when I preordered this at the earliest opportunity.

Now on release day I don't even want to play it.

Talk about depressing.

By the way, I'm glad some people are enjoying it. All the best to you guys. salute

I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.

Considering ROF was in continuous development for like 4+ years after its release (and frankly I waited for its second anniversary to buy it because I thought it took till then to be more than just a shell of a sim), I would expect to see at least quarterly updates to BoS for quite some time, if not more frequent in the early days.

So you think updates will take away the xp points and unlocks? You think they will add a REAL dynamic campaign (unlike RoF still Beta Career)? You think they will take away the gamey hud? You think a good FMB will come soon? How about real squadrons? How about taking out the training wheels "Action/Exit points"? You think they will let a person adjust their graphics preference, or are they happy with the presets?

If they continue to "update" what is in the game now, I dont see any point. Continuing dumb decisions will only make it worse. They need a damn revamp.

I hadn't played the beta releases for a few months (other things to do), and loaded up the 'final' version yesterday to see what was what.

To say something positive about it, if their goal was to get the WT and the sim curious crowd into the series, they did a very good job. The interface is slick and the hand-holding, goals and progression are well thought out. Granted, that's not what I wanted at all, but they did do it well. All the same, if I knew someone who wanted to get into WW2 flight sims from the ground up, this wouldn't be a bad place to start (with the caveat, that it might never progress to anything else and the asking price is steep for what you get).

I haven't given up but I won't say I'm sure it's not for me at this point yet, though. I doubt I'll ever get my $90 or whatever it was out of it, but I haven't given up hope yet.

The main thing that has me irked, and what led me to part with my $90 so freely back when, was that I *assumed* that it was going to be ROF does WW2. While not perfect, that would have been pretty damn good. It seemed like the obvious direction to take it. Well, anyways, you know what they say about assumptions.
