No videos I'm afraid, so I'll have to describe it.

Start a campaign as RFC 24, or I imagine any of the early Airco users. I'm in July 1916. Accept a mission to escort B.E. 2cs, then let the AI pilot try to do its thing.

The Airco is much faster than the Bee - yet it seems to need this speed to maintain lift. The AI's answer is to weave back and forth like a snake. Climb slightly at full power, drop power and drop off to the right, back to full power, drop off to the left, and so forth.

Perhaps this is the way it was done, but the end result is my wingmates keep colliding. The first two times there were six or seven of us in V formation. The last time there were three, and I tried a straight front-to-back ('I') formation. No difference.

I'd suggest either something needs to be done for the AI to help it maintain lift and formation, or the formation REALLY needs to spread out when the AI has to weave.

Interesting......and might that explain what happened to me yesterday?I was in a Nieuport 17 and rest of my squad was in Spad VII's and we were escorting a plane that I couldn't make out(flying with no labels). My squad was all over the skies and I had no idea why.Is it really that the Spads have a higher stall speed?Pretty kool if that is the reason.

This is a known occurrence. I know that the devs were addressing this issue but I can't confirm if this has already been patched for some craft or if it might be fixed in 2.0.

I always stay a safe distance away from the squad when escorting, for this very reason. I suggest you stay as tail end charlie and well clear of any possible collisions.

It is possible part of the problem is that the AI have to account for you being in the formation which can add a complexity to their manouver calculations. When they only have to act on behalf of themselves I think they may be fine but I'm not positive about this.

That is why I suggest you stay well back.
