This game seriously puts you on edge. It's not a nice feeling knowing you are being hunted! Uh-Oh! with a serpentine, fluid and frighteningly realistic motion, the Alien exits the ceiling vent and drops to the floor: And the hunt begins.. not long after I get a much closer look : One thing I am learning is that you have to keep moving. Hole up in a locker for too long and it WILL find you.

It's strange... I love the game, but I dread playing it! Could not have said it better, except I have actually been chicken-#%&*$# enough to keep finding excuses to play other games!
The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

I just wish they would implement T-IR. That would help a lot.

Ah Medical. What a nightmare but how brilliant. Oozing with atmosphere. The first time I saw this I let out a squawk of terror, panicked, turned round and hid in a small locker. It found me. On hard I spent a whole evening/night on this one chapter. It left me a gibbering, quivering wreck. But so utterly compelling.
Can't say I was too sad about Kuhlman's fate after putting Ripley through THAT!!
As for the debate as to whether it is better to to hole up in a locker or keep moving - I have done both and been killed doing both. I think the Alien's AI is so random that you really can't predict what it is going to do. You just have to take a chance. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. And that is the real terror - you are NEVER safe. It is quite simply hunting you. The b&st*rd even ambushed me in an air duct! Using the motion tracker is essential, unless it is close, as the Alien seems to be able to "hear" the beep! "You have my sympathies"!! Mike

You guys know you can't jus hide in lockers right ? you have to pull back and hold your breath, and if you hold it for too long and exhale it will hear you.
What pissed me off was the prologue of the game, you awake in your panties, and THERE ISNT a single reflective surface in the whole map (trust me i searched lol) i also wandered in my panties to see if you would cause a reactions, but the im not so obviously a android, and the girl seemed pretty cool with that, only warning me to dress before the meeting...i wish i could had gona to the meeting in my undearwear :P

On a dark gloomy vessel about to dock with a large station not putting out any communication or lights, about to embark on a mission full of a sense of dread in the back of your mind, and Blade_RJ is trying desperately to admire his naked self in the mirror. That's priorities man I don't know why but the game really isn't giving me the feeling of dread that things like Half Life 2 and FEAR did way back in the day. When the alien is around it's around a LOT, which reduces my fear of coming across the thing to a feeling of "oh come on, I need to hide in a locker for 10 minutes again until the damn stomping thing walks away for 30 seconds". The pacing and build up feels really off somehow, not that the game isn't enjoyable. Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel like I'm being hunted by a killer creature so much as being forced to sneak around a sleepless teleporting dinosaur.

When it comes to my locker it pops up saying hold right mouse button to hold breath, S to lean back. I think it's contextual, so just randomly hitting right mouse won't do anything unless the alien is in its "sniff the locker" animation

Ah I see.I'm not too far into it atm,I've only hidden under tables and in a box type thing and not had the alien sniffing up close.

Anyone still playing this game? It is on sale now and I am thinking of getting it and wanted opinions on how it is holding up.

I just finished the campaign a couple of days ago. I have read that the campaign takes about 20 hours to play through. I bet I took twice that. This means I spent about 20 hours cowering in a virtual locker . Game of the year for me.
