I just flew a campaign mission, landed a bit (*cough*) rough and taxied to my parking space. I shut down the engine, opened the canopy and just as the prop blades stopped spinning my right gear collapsed and my right wing hit the ground. I don't think I've ever seen something like that in a flightsim before. The aircraft was standing still, no movement whatsoever.

Love the feeling of a 'living', complex machine this little incident created.

Crossing the front lines on the way home from bombing a railway station, a friendly ground unit fired up a green flare, nice touch, and the ground crew wandering around the hardstand when taxiing in add a bit to immersion.

Cheers Dakpilot

Yep. The aircraft DM is a corker, very well made as are the terrain, external model, cockpits (especially the He-111) and FM's (although they could do with tweaking a bit) its just such a shame that all this good stuff is somewhat diminished by all the "sim lite" and gamey stuff that has been included.

Yes, noticed that all the crew didn't bail out of a shot up He-111 and looking through the windows you could see why. Also have never seen that in a flight sim.

I once clipped one wheel on a revetment camo netting after a low pass. The wheel came off and bounced along the ground with correct physics, jaw dropping stuff. I'm waiting for that DrZebra to come up with some crazy videos of such things. I wonder if you could damage a parked a aircraft with a bouncy wheel?

In my last mission my tail got hit and I had to fly home with full left rudder. Made the best landing I've ever done.

Yep. That pretty much 100% sums up my own perspective.

You do know that cannon-round impact flashes are rendered tens of feet behind the plane they've hit? A bit like the hit-sounds.

This game has been cobbled together from third-party sub-systems that aren't even remotely fit for purpose.

But who cares, the game is being pitched at arcaders who could care less even if they knew about it.

Well then, nothing standing between you and making and marketing your killer WWII sim but a few lines of code. What are you doing wasting your time here when you could be showing the whole world how it's done?

And then there was the time (last week) when I taxied over a bit of crashed Pe2 wreckage. My entire left wing came off. The only bit of my plane (from external view) that had rolled over the wreckage, at about 10mph, was one wheel.

Well, that certainly won't happen when you put your intellect to work completing the end-all of WWII flight sims. What are you doing wasting your time here? There's lines of code to be laid down so that taxing over debris only flattens tires (or is it only a slow leak?).

First, please don't refer to me in any manner or form of 'boy'.

Now, someone complaining because the wing broke off after they taxied over shot down aircraft debris? Really? Is it a flight sim or one of those sims devoted to propeller driven snow sleds? Easy fix...DON"T TAXI OVER DEBRIS, BERMS, RIVERS or BUILDINGS! Problem fixed. IRL if you taxied over debris and got a flat tire the airplane is out of service until repaired. And better have a clone to supply some a$$ after the maintenance officer and the commander get done chewing on yours.

The point is that a clearly over the top damage is caused by a minor cause!
That is in the whole game, a few mg hits and you have a torch going down or a wing coming off.
Defending that is like telling everybody about the emperors new clothes when he is naked.
There are CF - sims out there, which give you a flat tire in a accident like that.
And juvenile style answers give a impression, like it or not.
(I admit, mine wasn't better in that regard)

That simply isn't true. I've put a lot of mg hits into aircraft without getting a kill. A few cannon hits is a different story, as it should be.

So it appears it's 50/50 on whether the DM is good or not. Of course smile
