I am putting together a simple button box for my flight sims but I would like a bit of advise if possible.
I am using a BU0386X from Leo Bodnar but I would like to know in the image below what can I attach to the outputs in the yellow box? It looks like they are for hat switches and such, but, does it have to be hat switches or can I just use them like the other outputs? as in standard buttons/switches I know the ones marked in red are for normal buttons and switches, but I am not sure about the yellow ones.

The yellow ones (X,Y,Z,Rx,Ry,Rz) are for analog axis inputs. The Up/Down/Left/Right appears to be for an 8 direction POV Hat.

Suggestion: Use multi turn potentiometers for trim in these axis inputs.

Thanks guys.
I am a total noob to all this electronics malarky, hence the question.
So I can only use those things in those outputs. OK. Sokol I have no idea what those are or what they do and I certainly wouldn't know how to wire them up LOL

Cheers

Well, to help you knock a little bit of the noob-ness off... those connection points are actually BU0386X inputs, rather than outputs. wink

Board outputs (from a different kind of board) would send out electrical signals to something like LED light indicators, or something similar.

Ya' gotta get with the jargon, doncha' know...

Good luck with your project!

You wire them like any other Potentiometer. It's just 3 wires so not hard at all. The diference from this pots to "conventional" ones is that instead of a range of motion of 270 deg, they do several full turns in the case of the link sokol gave 3,5 or 10 turns. They are particulary apt for trim wheels because this way you can be very precise.

I believe you could wire 4 one way switches or 2 two way switches to the hat controls unless its an analog hat switch would if my thinking is correct is kinda like a mini stick control. In any case we have a lot of helpful folks here that can help with wiring and understanding it.

I've got a bad feeling about this.....
