The Aerosoft a318/a319 has been released and looks awesome!

Quote:

Aerosoft - Airbus A318/A319 (FSX+P3D)

The Aerosoft Airbus products have always been highly focused on simulating the task of the Captain. The aircraft is nothing more than a `tool` for that, but to do a serious simulation of the task you need a seriously simulated aircraft.

The Aerosoft A318/A319 contains all our latest developments and ideas. All the systems that are used in day to day flights are simulated with great attention to detail. This includes a Weather Radar that is a unique Aerosoft development and that is fully functional without the need for a specific weather add-on!

The Aerosoft Airbus A318/A319 contains many modules that are normally costly add-ons. For example we include a 100% working copy of FS2Crew RAAS (limited to our aircraft), a highly advanced semi-automated audio checklist, a co-pilot that assist you and a very complex audio environment.

General:
Simulation of the Airbus A318 and A319 focused on the day to day operation of the aircraft from the left seat
Late model cockpit (with LCD and updated ADIRS)
Sublime modeling/texturing based on the latest technologies. Very easy on frame-rates.
All lights created with the best technology which actually lights objects up
Dozens of non-standard animations, all with sound effects (sun screens, windows, tables, tiller, jump seat, standby compass, drooping flight surfaces etc). All main doors and cargo hatches can be opened. Extensive options to show ground objects (cones, ground power etc) and to actually provide ground power
Included web server that allows you to access (and use) the MCDU via any web browser; ideal for tablet computers

Sounds good. You'll have to tell us how it is.

I don't think I'm knowledgable enough to provide a review!

We'll leave that to the pilots smile

Edit: Oh and buy it from Flightsimstore, it's cheaper smile

I bought the 320/321 version of this a bit ago and its very good, probably only bettered by PMDG heavy metal in terms of immersion. The only criticisms I have (and I assume its not wholly realistic) is it keeps creeping with the throttles at idle during taxiing. And the web-based MCDU, whilst a good idea, was awfully implemented. Not sure i'll bother with the new version, even if it is available at about a 50% discount because of my prior purchase, unless someone tells me there is some big improvement in it.

I have not flown the 320 since buying this. The improvements are subtle but make for a better plane to fly all round. I got mine from JustFlight using the emailed discount so got it for half price and glad I did.

There have been 2 hotfixes for it now and I have found no serious bugs but because you get used to the 320s ways, you find a few weird things with the 318/319 which are actually corrections eg the seat belts lights which go on and off at 10,000 feet on auto with the 320 don't with the 318/319 and there is more manual intervention.

The new one has a weather radar and terrain radar which makes for pretty colours on the ND but is actually useless in the sim but it makes it more realistic looking.

The thrust lever creep we are assured by Aerosoft is normal on the 318/319 as even at zero there is an element of thrust and this assists taxiing but you have to get used to applying the parking brake.

The right hand flight computer has now been extended to include fuel and passenger boarding which is better and more involving.

Like I say there are no major differences just minor tweaks but behind the scenes they have carried out a lot of work to be fair.

What is a shame is that there will be no 380 or 340 because Aerosoft say the software is way too complicated to model accurately and they won't make any money on it. Pity as a 380 of this quality would be amazing.

With a real life 319/320 (depending on ramp weight) it is more than possible to start rolling from a standstill and accelerate with idle thrust, requiring brake application to control speed. Definitely once moving idle thrust both engines can accelerate you.

Even more so with eng anti ice on.

Devs said there was stuff there, but you just couldn't see it.

Cheers for putting me straight gents, you learn something new every day. To be honest I got the habit of keeping my finger on the brakes/applying parking brake whilst fumbling around with other bits of the cockpit right after the first time of rolling up the backside of an AI plane ahead of me in the queue for the runway anyway!

And yes, a 330/340/380 would've been nice. I used to really like the old Phoenix 330 and 340 (albeit it was the 340 200/300 with the CFM engines) I had for FS9.
