I am thinking about purchasing a 7" TFT LCD Color Monitor Screen Video for PC CCTV Camera Security to use for my Thrustmaster MFDs. Has anybody tried this size monitor?

That one looks like you'd have to use VGA input, which might not be ideal.

I've been considering something like this as well. As far as I can work out USB monitors are the way to go.

Icarus1: Thanks. I looked at the measurements again and it does indeed look too short.

TBH,

7" 4:3.800X600 TFT LCD w/VGA Controller board will cost about $50, for a kit on ebay

I know a few people that have gone this.route recently, and they fit perfectly vertically.

I havent been able to find a supplier with DVI/HDMI controller boards.

After the holidays I may look into building 3x VGA screens for mfds,

I tried to rip 4:3 and 1:1 screens from photo veiwers but the controller boards were not compatible.

Yes, only the 4:3 7" ones barely fit, but they are rare to find. The more common 7" widescreen ones DO NOT fit.

Im watching at least 20 7' 800x600 4:3 TFTs with controller boards on ebay right now.

$65-79 depending, I am eyeing the ones with DVI input, but the Power Supply is separate, can buy from them or goto radio shack, they give you everything else, spec sheet pdfs etc.

Attach screen to controller board, theb con. Board to input board, set the jumpers, hook up correct voltage power adapter, hook up dvi input, boom.

I have 2 free dvi outpits next to my 4 minidps so After Christmas i might move the mfds off my 4th screen abd just put 2 800x600 screens on the dvi outputs, and prolly run them at a lower res (ie 640x480) so I can maximjze resolution.

Pretty sure.I.can.make a 512x512 prpfile and just have it.scale and maintain aspect ratio.

I thought this was a cool idea at one point but since I wanted gauges too I went with one widescreen monitor that covered everything. I have the MFD screens and most of the useful A10C gauges at the expense of only one VGA port of which my GFX card has two.

I've got a bad feeling about this.....

I have 4 MiniDP and 2 DVI so I'm good.

I'll be discontinuing use of Helios soon enough.
