Been trying to find out about this game, not much info out there so when I saw it on Steam for 20 bucks, early access beta, I said why not... only one game with it so far and just deathmatch, because the other mode is squads vs squads, and I don't have squad mates with it yet... HINT HINT.
First impressions, just like WW1, simple and direct combat, a pretty good first impression with hope for more into this game, like maybe platoons or large battles for trench lines, artillery, etc etc...
anyway a couple of screens from the first match with a short video clip, just showing the game so far... it is a BETA folks, that means work in progress.
The key here... stay low, watch your siliquete (SP?), see them before they see you.
Well...all righty. I'm interested. Something different. I see this doing well. And I'm sure if it does, we'll see The Somme, expansion pack, where you can play as a Tommy. Then, Argonne Forest, where you can be a Yank. I'll guess that once it progresses, you'll get to be a machine gunner, use a flame thrower...etc. First time I've heard of it, I think.

looking forward to the squad thing, but the more I play deathmatch, as soon as everyone learns just to hide and shoot whoever hasn't learned to not move yet...it gets boring. but the battlefields are intense and scary.

So it sounds like a real life WWI simulator!

Some things just aren't that much fun to simulate. Trench warfare seems like one of those things.
Now, if there were huge, organized PvP (like an attack/defend mode) then I could see it. But deathmatch, not so much.

I just bought this the other day. I have to say I really like they way the game plays out. Storming and taking trenches, then being forced to retreat and defend your ground is very fun.
The graphics are rather sub par, and the micro stuttering is game breaking at times (particularly when ADS). The game feels more early alpha rather than beta.
I think that a WW1 mod for RO2 could/would give this game a run for its money.
I've had this one since last winter steam sale I believe and play it every so often, not a huge FPS fan but this is one of the rare few that I enjoy. Did not even know there was a deathmatch style option, news to me I couldn't see that one being a whole lot of fun, but in the other part of the game, the squad style is rather enjoyable. Even just joining a random squad, unless you're starting out and get stuck as NCO, which is usually the open slot when you see a squad with 3/4. Seems very good with just randoms, I can only imagine that actually having a more organized squad would make things that much better.
Corktip, because individual infantrist action in WW1 was not counting for much in the trenches. If they do the mountain part, maybe some earlier engagements... but mostly if you do it historically, a random bullet or shell will get you.
Yep crouching in your blockhouse while the preparatory arty falls.
Then line up in the trench
Then wait for the whistle
Then climb up and advance in extended line, through the mud and the wire
Watch your buddies fall like 9 pins to MG fire
Keep going while awaiting your turn to be hit.
Loads of fun ...
