Another surprise has caught me loading "Enemy Engaged". Probably graphics related. Following initial setup, I receive a terminal message that reports:

"Unable to lock vertex buffer"

What is this? How can it be resolved so the program launches normally?

Ideas most welcome

I suppose it means your hardware not capable to execute rendering code. first of all you should try to use software rendering - "notnl = 1" in EECH.INI. if it will not work - please try this test version.

I thank you for your prompt response and .INI recommended change. The change only brought further launch failures probably due to graphic related issues. The recent test version link only invited me to buy resort property somewhere in the Carribean.

I have two XP OS based systems. The system with the 'Vertex Buffer' problem is a higher performance dual core processor and has a greater VRAM Nvidia card than the other. However, the other system which is less in CPU and GPU does have a functional setup of EECH.

So to end the frustration, I copied over the complete RAZORWORKS folder from the functional installation to replace the 'sick" EECH installation in the other system. Surprisingly, this crude solution does work. EECH 1152 is now operationl on both systems. Yet you should ever find what caused this random Vertex Buffer failure and a probable workaround, I would certainly like to learn should it happen again.

interesting solution - now it sounds like video hardware first initialization failure. thanks for the information, it can be helpful in future.
