A couple of months ago I bought a big Star Wars bundle on Steam and it included these two classics. Has anyone recently tried them on PC? Do they look pretty good? I plan to try them all out eventually, but these two titles interest me the most. smile

I've played both on a Win7 64 bit OS with (unofficial) widescreen patches. Both still look quite good IMO, especially with higher resolutions.

For KotOR 2 I recommend the fan-made restoration project.

I played both within the last 5 years and while I enjoyed replaying them I found the graphics a bit long in the tooth (especially the character faces). Still, you can't beat the compelling story lines from both games.

“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”

Interestingly, Revan found your face a bit long in the tooth as well! Kreia, well...she just dropped dead.

LOVE the first, but the second, not as much. They say 2 got put out unfinished and that the ending was just a chapter ending, not intended to be the story ending.
I think the graphics are ok, but I do agree the faces are what look dated the most. You'll be reading most of the time they're on screen waiting on you, so you don't notice much.
1 has a great story, which would make a very good movie. Pretty long game too. I liked the R2-like droid (forgot the name). Very useful to develop.
That game needs the Mass Effect treatment and to be re-released.

Absolutely but I highly doubt anyone would bankroll such a project.

Especially now that Disney is basically dumping all the EU. It would have to be re-written to meld with "their" vision, read here, missions on Naboo, out of Otoh Gunga.

"Yippee!"

Played the first one in college on my dell at like 10fps...but beat it in like 3 days before I got a job smile

They work great on my W7 machine, it's like a new game playing at 60fps! I have the 2nd one too, but have yet to play it. I'm waiting to finish my dark side run through the game the 2nd time, I played as a good guy the first time around.

My son still plays these regularly.

Pardon the sacrilege, but some may be interested to know KOTOR 1 has been converted into a very good iOS port for ipad. Looks and plays beautifully.

And it can upload (only one at a time) save game to iCloud. So you can start playing on an iPad, upload your save, and continue on an iPhone.

I did just that recently at Myrtle Beach.

KOTOR 1 is one of the best games I've ever played!

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

The EU Disney is dumping is basically everything post-ROTJ, with possibly anything between Ep3 and 4 as well (with the introduction of SW Rebels). If it's pre-Phantom Menace I don't think they care or will bother. Not unless they decide to turn some of those into films, which I don't imagine right now.
