From the trailers he seems neither cool, quirky, nor funny... All essentials in a legendary Dr Who.

I'm afraid to see the new series with my son in case it is naff.

He is all of them but much different than the others. I am up in the air about him. I think it may take a bit to warm up to him. At least he still has Clara!

I find it interesting how the producers switched to a much older Dr. Who after having three actors in a row in the role who were much younger.

I'm still undecided on him, although wifey reckons he is way too old. Pertwee was my favourite, followed by Tennant, Eccelstone, Smith

New Dr is good and growing into the role, as is Clara with her role. The first couple of scripts however ... sigh

He's excellent!
I hope they keep him for many seasons.

The new Doctor? Excellent.

The scripts for the new series? Patchy.

The new Doctor is hard compared to the older ones. E.g in the first episode,

did he throw the clockwork man out of the ship or not?

He's cynical. A good bit of dry humor. And very refreshing after Matt Smith.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

This predictably showed up shortly after Capaldi was announced to be the new Dr.

I'm on the fence about him as well. I didn't like Eccelstone and quit watching during his tenure, but I came back for Tenant. I was iffy on Smith until the first episode where he nailed it, and I had no more reservations. After several eps now I'm STILL not sure about Capaldi.

Clara is good, though.
