1. I was watching a guide for the DCS huey and found out about force trim. What I don't understand is that is force trim hardware enabled or can you use any joystick and assign a force trim command to it?
2. Can I use force trim with the X-55 while playing the DCS Huey?
DCS has a force trim work-around that can be used with any joystick and assigned to a button. For sticks that do not have FFB, or some other user-created mechanism for physically holding the stick in an off-centered position, it will not work like actual force trim physically presents. The particulars of it can best be read up on over on Eagle Dynamics forums, as there have been numerous threads dealing with since at least the debut of DCS Blackshark.
Yes, you can use their force trim implementation with an X-55 while playing DCS Huey. If you already have DCS Huey, I'd suggest you consult the manual for what it has to say about Force Trim, and then head over to E.D.s forums. Just understand that you will actually be returning your joystick to the centered position after releasing the force trim button, whereas a real cyclic would be held in the trimmed position. It's a concession to how non-FFB computer joysticks work.
