They don't surrender every time. They get beat, but they fight hard with Elan

Eyeroll at the surrender comment. Say what one will about the French, but historically and in contemporary times they kick serious butt on the battlefield. Yes, they got rolled at the start of WWII, but so did everyone else. The UK had an island to retreat to, and the Soviets the Urals.
Show me an aircraft with a blue, white, and red roundel and I'll show you s--- getting done.
Shorty-shorts on the ground handler at the end. Man, they may be good fighters, but shorty shorts?
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

Sure the French army in its whole did not fight well enough in '40 (with exceptions of course, and not few) but the comparaison with Barbarossa is very relevant as the German order of battle against the USSR was not much higher than for Fall Gelb (with the LW even a bit weaker IIRC) against a much numerous foe in a vast country and without the question of millions of civilians thrown on the roads. For the shorty-short, and although it fits well with a white handkerchief, it's some kind legacy of the" good old "colonial and post-colonial times:

The Jedi Master No, lan is the French spirit of fighting. It was one of the reasons the first month they got trounced by Germany. They thought everything was about the attack, at one point they ran people across a valley because they believed that all victory was through attacking.
