Her Privates We and Subaltern on the Somme.
I have focused my reading on the air war to the exclusion of the ground war, thinking "What could be interesting about living in a hole in the mud?" A great deal, it turns out.
These two books are very interesting and very readable. I recommend you give them a try.
Hi, I'm Larry and this my brother Dayrle, and this is my other brother Dayrle.

Her PRIVATES!? Here now, you don't mean her naughty bits, do you?
"From our orbital vantage point, we observe an earth without borders, full of peace, beauty and magnificence, and we pray that humanity as a whole can imagine a borderless world as we see it, and strive to live as one in peace." "Her privates we" is a quote from Hamlet. Being a pun on "private soldier" and fortune's Wendy, as a homonym for "Her Private Suite". Guildenstern, Rosencrantz and Hamlet:
G: My Honoured Lord! R: My most dear lord! H: My excellent good friends! How dost thou, Guildenstern? Ah, Rosencrantz! Good lads, how do you both? R: As the indifferent children of the earth. G: Happy, in that we are not overhappy. On Fortune’s cap we are not the very button. H: Nor the soles of her shoes? G: Neither, my lord. H: Then you live about her waist, or in the middle of her favors? G: Faith, her privates we. H: In the secret parts of Fortune? Oh, most true. She is a strumpet. What news? G: None, my lord, but that the world’s grown honest. H: Then is doomsday near. But your news is not true. Let me question more in particular. What have you, my good friends, deserved at the hands of fortune that she sends you to prison hither?

These are pretty good to,
At the Sharp End covers the harrowing early battles of World War One, when tens of thousands, then hundreds of thousands, died, before the generals and soldiers found ways to break the terrible stalemate of the front. It provides both an intimate look at the Canadian men in the trenches and an authoritative account of the slow evolution in tactics, weapons, and advancement. Featuring never-before-published photographs, letters, diaries, and maps, this recounting of the Great War through the soldiers’ eyewitness accounts is moving and thoroughly engrossing. At The Sharp End is the first comprehensive history of Canadians in World War One in 40 years.
Shock Troops follows the Canadian fighting forces during the titanic battles of Vimy Ridge, Hill 70, Passchendaele, and the Hundred Days campaign. Through the eyes of the soldiers who fought and died in the trenches on the Western Front, and based on newly uncovered Canadian, British, and German archival sources, Cook builds on Volume I of his national bestseller, At the Sharp End. The Canadian fighting forces never lost a battle during the final 2 years of the war, and although they paid a terrible price in the killing fields of the Great War, they were indeed, as British Prime Minister David Lloyd George exclaimed, the shock troops of the Empire.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.
