I'm resigning from my current job tomorrow and searching the web for something appropriate
to use as a template, and oh my God are there some winners out there.

Seen examples from a Magnum Opus detailing every event in his pathetic life, to a very simple "#%&*$# you",
I prefer the "#%&*$# you" simplicity, but it doesn't apply to my situation.

I resigned from a job 3 months ago, after 6 years there.

My letter was:

Please accept this letter as notice of my resignation, effective 16 Jun, 2014. I am willing to stay on the customary two weeks to close out my current projects.

Thank You,

I have no idea what your situation is, what kind of job you are doing, where you are going, how business associations relate, etc; however it is never good to burn bridges. Even if it would be presently gratifying, it almost never works to your benefit. Short, simple, respectful, and appropriate.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

Totalling agree OG. Never burn a bridge. I have a very good job, but was made an offer that's
better for me and my family.

Don't burn bridges. No matter how fun you think it is, there is no reason at all to do it and every reason on earth not to do it.

EDIT: I just read OG's post above too. Doh.

The Smiths - Frankly, Mr Shankly comes to mind as a wonderful way to blow up bridges.

But, in the real world that can't be done. Always be grateful for the opportunity and experience that was afforded to you in their service.

I gave up on all of em when they hit over 1M per game....Ludicrous

Sat in the Orange Bowl for the first Dolphins home game EVER, and a bunch more after that.

Don't make me fire up my phone and show you the autographed football collection ...Griese...Csonka...Shula...Marino...

It's just stupid here now in Central FL. The NFL has decided I am a Jax Jaguar fan "demographically".

LOL. I decided to just ignore the crap....just LOL at the Bucs...they SUCK!

Piper, sounds like you're we're overdue for a Pint Night meeting at the Saucer to trade horror stories about jobs. Pepper, you in?

No horror stories, but a pint night would be great!

Actually, the new job is down on Centennial Campus.

Ooh. As Bill Grant said, clear out that inbox. We'll be talking soon. And I'll bring Pepper into this one too.

Sir,

Please be informed that this serves as my notification for leaving employment here. While I'd like to thank you for the opportunity to explore new opportunities in the workplace, it was not clear when I accepted a position here as a performer that this company deals exclusively in producing pornography of a homosexual nature. Frankly I cannot find myself able to grasp the corporate mission statement of "gay pr0n happens" in a meaningful way.

To management,
It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.
