I thought sure that I got him with a missile this time, but just a near miss.

That big orange compass, enemy locator, whatever in the upper right hand corner; how can you remove it...........if you can.

Wow, what button did you push to get that thing!? I've never even seen it.

I think it's there because you are playing in Game mode and not Sim mode?

That's correct goto options, gameplay and uncheck game flight mode and game avionics mode.

It was in Easy mode, which I do not fly in any more.

Game mode has been a DCS staple if not outright default since DCS: Black Shark 1.

You say they had this all along? I don't want to see them moving on to PS4 ports, many sims are headed that way. nope

Cheers

I don't think there's much of a market for a high end sim in the twitch crowd, so we're probably safe there. That said, in response to your earlier question the MiG-21 does support mouse control. biggrin

Good thing I don't play Game mode... If I want gamey (though they are improving that aspect) then I'll play A3 as that's not a real flight sim like DCS that's for sure. And I'll say the Sabre is a nice plane to fly but short legged but still a good "sport" plane to just hop in and fly around in.

It's better than the A-10C that's for sure, but the trick is to map the ones you really need the most and click the rest. Like the weapons selector switch behind the virtual stick you should map as much as possible since it's right behind the stick, and zooming down there and moving the stick to access the buttons is NOT a good idea.
But that area I recommend personally after doing a review for it, but the guns controls are accessible, just look under the left part of the canopy and I usually switch those by clicking rather than mapping since it's accessible and easy to figure out.

A3 has a much better Little bird though wink

With the new flight models it's also trying to be more of a 'survey sim', which I think is fair.

That said, I'm fine with the game mode in DCS. Key word is MODE, implying it can be changed. It allows newcomers to jump in without being overwhelmed at first. My own MO for most hardcore sims is to start with most of the assists/easy-mode stuff on, and the begin removing them bit by bit as I work my way to the more hardcore experience.

Agreed A3 is getting better, but still the flight dynamics need tweaking a lot so while they are (I think I said that) working on improving it, its still far behind most flight sims.

Fair enough but I usually get the module for simulation not an ersatz version of flying.
