I'm not normally a fan of colorized photos, but these look pretty interesting, and I think can make them seem a little less detached.

I highly agree with it (while keeping the originals of course). Some of the WWI colored photos I've seen here on SimHQ were incredibly odd to behold as they did what the photographs were intended to do, bring a moment in time to life for others to relate to. Black and white is artistic, and it was a limitation at the time, but it doesn't do the photos justice. Something about seeing proper color puts me right in these places, as opposed to black and white which hardly does more than elicit "man they had old cameras back then"

When I was like 4-5 years old I used to think that color didn't exist in the past because of all of the black & white movies and tv shows I saw from the 60's and earlier. biggrin

Hah!

I used to think that colors were muted in the past because of all the old photographs my grandmother had.

The Helldiver sure was a huge single-engined plane.

I think the Avenger was even larger.

I've seen the Avenger from about 20ft and it was huge compared to the Air Tractor that was parked next to it.

Here's a video I shot at an air show that shows a couple Avengers taxiing by at the beginning. You can compare their size to the marshallers and then to the Corsair that follows them.

Oh, F7F, I always liked that ever since I first flew it in AOTP. Even more than the F8F.

Noticed the Kim Anderson colorized photos in the 90's and thought they were interesting.

Here's one that's lightly colorized (flag/sky/single helmet)
