Has anyone out there been able to get a kill on a AI Mig-15 and if so, what is your secret? Best I have been able to do is get an close explosion in a one on one dogfight.
Another question: are you able to select a missiles or guns using the D key or button designated for the D key?
Mine does not and I have to select weapon with the mouse which is not quick enough in the heat of the fight and I end up losing my good firing position. Is this a bug?
Thanks for the help,
BadBud

I haven't been able to hit a Mig-15 with a missile yet. As for the gun/missile switch, it's an oversight by the developer. There's no keybinding for that switch ATM, but ED is aware of it and are going to fix it in a future patch.

AIM-9B doesn't like maneuvring targets, even not too violent turns may render it a miss. I tried it on Su-25, MiG-15 and L-39, MiG sometimes get hit, Su-25 is easier to hit but it can trash the missile too, especially with flares, I never have been able to hit L-39 with it.

Apparently in new update just released today, 3D model and performance of AIM-9B is adjusted, wonder how will it act now smile

BTW, D changes gunsight mode, to switch to missiles, you change another knob, not that one, "SAFE, CAMERA, GUN, MISSILE" was the name of correct switch IIRC. Don't know if new patch fixes it but, there wasn't a control assignment for this in options, so it was only a mouse clickable knob.

The AIM-9B is basically an unguided rocket that on rare occasions will experience divine intervention and turn to follow a target.

and that is only when my wingman has fired one and I am any where near the seeker cone

Dont think of it as being vastly outnumbered ... but just having a large target selection.

The only thing more accurate than incoming fire, is incoming friendly fire

After 10+ years of flying Strike Fighters, I'm very familiar with the 9B. wink
