I posted about it in past but just putting this back out there. Its a program that shuts down most of the processes on your PC so your game gets access to as much ram and CPU as it can for gaming. This doesn't really increase FPS but for me it has reduced stuttering dramatically. It worked well in past but the latest version, called Razer Cortex Boost, seems to have completely cured my stutters. The only time I now stutter in WOFF is when I am in time compression and I look around and I get some stuttering. In game at normal time and its silky smooth.

What the newest version has,or rather has it now working,is that it also closes windows explorer and has something else called "launch game on game desktop=provides maximum processing power for gameplay without interruptions".Once these two things started working I am now stutter free. The only drawback is that lately I have I resorted back to pressing the windows key to exit game so I can navigate with Lou's maps instead of using my second monitor.Sadly, with explorer shutdown and gamedesktop activated I cant do this anymore.

Razer Cortex

High over the Front
I have always been a Booster user, and for so long, I really don't remember if it really helps me a lot but the principle makes sense ao I keep using it. Version 3.4.4 IIRC.

A newer version (not Cortex I hope) I tried about a year ago was a complete redesign and required a internet connection and had some other , quite annoying, features so I went back to my current/older version.

I will check out Cortex. Thanks.

I am using Process Lassoo which does something similar. What I have done is run WOFF in processor 3 and changed most of the other programs I can find to use processors 0-2. Not sure if it makes any difference though mycomputer

Sounds interesting, never heard of these Programs before...
I'll give this Lassoo a try instead of Cortex, because Cortex has used the "F"-Word... Facebook

Over a decade ago I used a program called "End it All" which seemed to help with a new at that time demanding sim CFS3

I remember also using "End it All" for a long time, then "Game Booster" and today I use "Razer Booster".

I have the awful stuttering when looking around with trackir and this program does wonders for me.The turning off of explorer and the game desktop setting was the icing on the cake for buttery smooth trackir use and voila,I cant use it because then I cant use Lou's maps.I would pay to have Lou's maps incorporated into WOFF.Would upgrade the look and functionality of WOFF a great amount.

With or without Razer Booster I have no stuttering at all with my track IR, except for the first time on the field when I have to look around once to get it all started. smile2

Even if it just gets rid of the initial stutter for you then IMO its still great.

My opinion of boosters is this, they themselves contribute to the problem they are trying to prevent.

Firstly understand what it is they, the boosters do.
Secondly learn how to do that without using the boosters.

How do they, the boosters work?

Simple they free up process on programs that are running but are not being used, to provide better performance for the program you are running and are using.

Problem, who is limiting the process on the booster? You only using the booster to free up process yet the booster is taking up process. Though it may provide better performance using one, but still if that is what you want then why not achieve it without using the booster.

How?

Windows Services manually stop Services you do not use and prevent them from starting by setting their start up type to manual. This is easy done however you will need to research Windows Services to figure out which ones you actually use and which ones you do not.

Programs, Prevent programs from loading in startup. If you are not planning on using that program there is no reason for it to be holding resources for fast recall, access or whatever. I can walk up to most modern day computers and speed them up by at least 30% from Startup alone.

Windows Indexing
Do you search for files on your computer a lot using startup search bar? No? So Windows Indexing can be turned off because in most cases it is on by default and very few people see the benefit of this.

Page File. Does your computer run smoothly ? Then set windows to no page file.

If you still get stuttering after doing most of this (exception services) then this is more than a resources hogging issue but most likely a physical resource issue (Upgrade already)

But I like booster because it allows all my programs I have running to stop and then when I exit the game they automatically start back up again.

Also the booster only takes 31 meg of memory to run while with PC boosted I get back 500m ram. That is 469meg memory my PC can use.Just with using the booster alone my PC shows 2.3G of ram and if I go and then manually remove more I can get down to 2.1G of ram.Its not perfect program as it leaves stuff like Nvidia settings and Geforce Experience still running amongst others and these don't do anything and should be turned off IMO.

What sucks is that my game still stutters yet its silky smooth if I allow the booster to shut down windows explorer and start up the game desktop thingy.Sadly I must use Lou's maps and so deal with the stutters.EDIT....its not sad that I must use Lou's maps as they are awesome! wink

I will look into this indexing and gonna try turning it off to see if I can get a little more juice.

I spent a long time trimming my Windows 7 when I installed FSX on this PC, following advices of professional developers. It's a long document but you can skip the "build the machine" first part. ( Although I find it also very interesting to understand a few things )
All my games on this PC work without stutters, including FSX which is known for being a ressource hog.

I used much of his advice when setting up FSX
Built my system around an AMD CPU though. Kicks arse for me.

Although I followed a lot of the guide, I have an ATI GPU and not Nvidia and an i5 CPU and not an i7 smile2
But so far no regrets !
