I just found that one also and started a new career from there. The problem still remains though of transferring and getting stuck in a loop where there was not enough pilots and the engine didn't spawn replacements.Would really suck to be many hours into a career and that happens.
Get the WOFF User Backup Utility from here: Link and run it after every mission. It will allow you to restore back your pilot if you ever run into a transfer problem again!

Thanks Robert,I already have it installed and have used it in past but not on a daily basis of which would of saved me thus time. I know where of you speak! We all have backup utilities on our systems but most of us fail to use them judiciously. I have put the WOFF backup utility on my desktop just in front of my WOFF icon so it reminds me to use it before I start WOFF! I'm thinking that a small batch utility that runs the backup utility and then starts WOFF might be a good thing to have so every time you want to run WOFF you use the batch file instead of the generic WOFF icon.

That would work though it does allow you to easily reincarnate a dead pilot and is bad for the DID feel. That is why I did it once I had all my controls mapped, which took a hella long time to get to my liking and not done since.
