My condolences about all your country-mates, lost their life in this disaster! I believe, that the investigation would find the truth! Probably already saw this, right? SA-11 Also: Preliminary report and: German Parliament Commisiion

I do not know any other SAM system type than the BUK, that use "hourglass" shaped fragments.
The 9M38M1 missile use proportional navigation (SARH), and has a kill radius of 17m.

I don't believe that here we have real professional investigators or military professionals, but I hope you will find the info you need.... That's what I know: I was wondering if based on the damage of the aircraft, the type of warhead can be determined.
Yes, there is a possibility some details to stay stacked in some places of the plane's structure, also in humans bodies... Damage to the aircraft is various. From perfect squares holes to small rond holes and elongated cracks. Hm, never saw round holes..., considering cracks - there is a big difference in internal and external pressure on 10 km altitude, as material is pierced in one place, it goes suddenly weakened and starts cracking... From the shot down of the Siberia Tu-154 done by a S-200 I understand the S-200 uses only steel balls. Could a S-200 be ruled out?
It was put out of service in 2013, no idea is it reactivated soon: I understand some missles in use by BUK uses warheads 9N314 or 9N130. 9N314 has three types of fragments, basically forms of cubicles and a butterfly shaped one. What could be the type of missle? It seems the missle exploded near the aircraft, on the lefthand side. What does it say about the TELAR? What position must it be? Is there a relationship between the warhead and the missletype?
The newer version of warhead is not exported in Ukraine, as I know... What trajectory does a BUK missle take? Does it always explode slight above level of the aircraft? Could it explode underneath the aircraft?
As SA-11 is still in service, it's "behavior" is still secret, so those could not be answered... From videos is known that it gains altitude and attacks from above, but it could use some other methods, which system/operators could select at any time...

Almost 300 innocent people were killed. We need to find the truth. Sorry, but please tell me we're not playing CSI:SAM here?
