I appreciate the fact that Russ was willing to do a live tap dance for us, but it seemed like he still has a sugar coated viewpoint that is very out of touch with most of us who play MWO, ghost heat is ok, VOIP is not needed because people would use TS anyways, current gameplay is so great that there has been lots to do without CW, he blames IGP for most of the problems etc.
There were a couple of good things mentioned, the news that they aren't beholden to IGP anymore is definitely the main good news, lots of cool things they want to do besides finish CW, I even heard them mention a SP mode, but I've heard lots of promises from them before so will continue to not spend dollars on MWO until CW is delivered and worth rewarding.
Also I was not surprised with the talk of them working on another pay to win expensive Mech pack now that the clans are out and most people who would spend money on it already have, but I didn't appreciate his attitude when talking about rewarding Clan pack buyers with a free mech while at the same time blowing off Phil's question about rewarding the Founders, even Phil gave him a hard time about how poorly the Founders have been treated (worthless mech variants): http://youtu.be/OejYs_7ERjQ?t=47m44s And he did this in the same TownHall that he reveals a new product which I am sure he will want new Founders for... sorry but nope
Overall I still don't trust them, and I don't really believe that they will keep working on MWO to deliver fully on what they promised for CW nevermind all the rainbows and puppies promises once they start to focus on the new game.
BTW not a good sign that the landing page on the new PGI "Transverse" space game website is not info about the game but a crowdfunding pledges counter: http://transversegame.com/

-My own question. Will Artificial Intelligence be developed and implemented, like the grunts in Titanfall, in the form of elementals, tanks, etc. adding new depth to objective play. Player vs environment. Russ believes it is going to happen as long as the customers want it. (seemed pretty quick to say that it will happen. Noticeably more than other features that might be possible after CW is added).
"CW is out, we start thinking about what's our next big thing beyond just improving the initial 4 pillars. Is it PvE, is it single player? etc... Yeah, I got to believe that it's.... it's gonna happen... it's just going to have to be priorities in the future of what the players want... and if they want that straight after CW, then we'll go there"
I'd LOVE to have a SP and co-op campaign. Some kind of training you could do, a storyline of some sort, mission briefings, a variety of goals and situations to deal with...that would REALLY bring back the MW experience. A dynamic campaign would be incredibly fun. All of that means AI though, for the enemy and AI companions, which would be a lot of work. I do hope we see it one day, even if it's another game using the same assets to save dev time.
AI would also allow for some kind of imbalanced teams. Equal numbers of human players, but IS or defenders, could be padded by AI mechs. You could then have 12 vs 15 without upsetting the human teams.

"-Russ would like for an public update from Paul for the progress on Community Warfare. Mixing technology removes immersion. Faction tab will filter what mechs you are allowed to take on a certain planet or in a unit. The current public queue will remain. Faction fights will be a separate queue of "serious roleplay" that will have specific new rules and restrictions. You will not have access to "All of your mechs" in the faction tab for Community Warfare. (what about mercenaries and Lone Wolves? guess that will depend on who you are fighting for. Seems interesting) "
That concerns me a bit. I hope we can move to a merc unit when the time comes that it makes a difference. I don't mind running IS some, but I paid for my clan mechs and don't like the idea of not being able to use them in the most important game nights. Once CW starts, I doubt people will want to play anything else. From my Chromehounds experience, there was regular MP outside of the war, but it always felt like time wasted when we could be trying to win the war.
It's all well and good for them to request to be judged on their 2014, not their 2013. However, that begs the question... since they know they screwed up 2013, do they have any intention to address the things that could be set right?
Not that I trust anything PGI says at this point, but with IGP being removed from the equation maybe they can keep promises without their knees being cut out from under them (if that was a factor in what transpired before). If nothing else, at least it removes that excuse/suspicion on why they fail to keep any future commitments made.
I already expect the answer to the following is, "No", but I'll ask any ways. Was there any mention of establishing a '1st Person POV only' queue? (Thanks ahead of time, for sparing me from sitting through the videos).

I'd be for a 1st person queue if it meant stock builds only. If they do something more hardcore, then I want it by the book. Stock and certain variants only. I think that would be incredibly fun and result in some excellent fights.

"With Transverse not being Kickstarted and funds being gathered directly, there’s no protection for backers and the funding goals set out by Piranha are almost absurd. So much so they appear to have changed their funding page. In case you missed the funding goals, they were as follows: $1,000,000 – Space Flight $1.5 million – Customise your ship $2.0 million – Space combat We’re a little perplexed why it would take an additional $1 million to shoot your lasers. What if they don’t reach $2 million? Does that mean you won’t be able to shoot? The whole campaign is bizarre and for that reason alone do not back this until there is more concrete information, gameplay, or you are completely sure you want to play this."
As expected the incompetent/misleading way PGI has behaved with MWO and the terrible timing of the switched focus to the new game before CW, is not leading people to give them Star Citizen type of crowd funding for the new game, especially since they are doing the same CW tactic of holding the gameplay hostage as a stretch goal...
Now that they've also given us MWO players good reason doubt their commitment to it, we're not spending money on MWO either, so I hope they do like Microsoft with XBOne, turn the ship 180 degrees and come correct, otherwise I wonder how they will pay the bills now that they also burned the bridges with their publisher IGP and blamed them for all that was wrong with MWO.

Yeah, all that protection you get with Kickstarter. LMAO!
Whatever the drama, we also gain nothing if we kill MWO by crucifying PGI. For now, they're hitting the marks and that's all I care about. Couldn't care less about the other game.
I agree, I don't want MWO to fail, the sad part is we aren't the ones causing this, they are doing it to themselves with their badly timed decisions, lack of care for us MWO customers and their terrible PR moves.
I do hope they realize they screwed up and stop digging the hole deeper.
Hey, they already have 62 backers. LOL. Perhaps another PR debacle is what they need to realize that if they don't succeed with MWO, they likely won't make it as a company.

Yeah, two surprises in those articles and the Transverse forums about that new PGI game: 1. EA actually gave the Wing Commander license to PGI sometime ago for a new space game despite the PGI MWO track record (maybe as a way to get back at Chris Roberts for doing Star Citizen without that license?) 2. PGI decided not to use that WC license and instead came up with this new space game/universe
I'm actually glad they didn't waste the Wing Commander license on this fiasco, because I'm sure many Wing Commander fans of old would have tossed money at them without considering their track record of holding the gameplay back as a carrot while focusing on stuff to sell.
Surprising business decision though, wonder why they did that? maybe they didn't want to inherit WC fans with actual expectations of a finished WC game, after they've seen they can't do that indefinitely with Mechwarrior fans, much easier to deal with (and string out) fans of a new title/universe like SC has.
Sorry for responding so late to all this, but this fiasco is just begging for a Capt. Picard face palm.
You're already working on one game, a game where fans are already rabidly throwing money at you, and you know it isn't even done. If you can just keep adding content and polish (listening to your base), won't you be swimming in your own Scrooge McDuck money bin?
Instead you decide to fragment your development team. Ugh.

Yep Kludger, looks like Firefly wrapped up in about every cliche trailer you've ever seen. They even put some Serenity looking features on the ship, like the cargo door and VTOL engines.

Remember to keep an eye on MAV (Chromehounds recreation by one guy) and Dark Horizons: Mechanized Corps. Neither are to the point of putting money in, but both look promising. I think MAV may go 1st person, not sure about Dark Horizons. Might be refreshing to try Hawken for a week or two. It wasn't as fast paced as I remembered last time I tried it.
