Welcome over Flanders fields, Mukai!
High res skins here - the visuals are important to me.
As for the hits: you'll hear it when you get hit; Creaghorn has made a great little series of different sounds for the impacts on wood, metal or canvas - very alarming! And you will see the serious damage anyway, like big areas of ripped off canvas, or missing wing tips. Only the "decals" for bulletholes are missing. It wouldn't help you much counting those in an attack - you'd get shot while trying to.

On a similar note, I may be wrong, but I'd assume that canvas wouldn't show holes but small rips and tears which wouldn't be visible anyway (or very hard to notice while flying) considering the caliber of the machine guns used wasn't too large @ 7.xx mm.
Metal and Wood holes would probably be visible, however.

I go high-res. I like the bullet holes but they are too large and holes arranged in a straight line is a bit too Hollywood. For me it's not worth a lesser quality overall skin. Exactly. I was very curious about the feature, but just didn't like the way holes look.

is the bullet hole 'graphic' something that could be modded to a small rip or tear look? just curious... I am sure it is something that could be done easily enough...if you have the skill,, If it's just a graphic file it should be real easy. If it also involves a .mdl type file along with it then it may be real tricky. With all that said I am a standard skin guy - +1 to what Creaghorn said.

is the bullet hole 'graphic' something that could be modded to a small rip or tear look? just curious... To my understanding from poking around, the bullet holes are a separate "skin" that is transparent except for the holes or damage and seems to be applied over the normal skin in parts as you are damaged. If you look in the aircraft folders, you can find the damage texture for each craft. It shows up as a white skin (transparent in game) with all the possible damage and bullet holes on it. You could proabably mod this like any other texture and see what results you get. Maybe someone with 3D skin application know-how can chime in as to how the thing all works. (I'd like to know myself!)

I'm a standard res guy. I like counting the bullet holes when I get back from a mission, even if they aren't the most realistic.
I returned from one mission with my Alb. V so shot up, it looked like Swiss Cheese!
