So I just built up an old Windows 98SE machine with two Voodoo 2's in SLI and an Nvidia TNT2 M64. It has 512mb of RAM with a PIII 933mhz as well. I had an Nvidia FX5500 installed, but it didn't seem to play well with the Voodoo 2's. I would really like to keep the Voodoo 2's installed for Glide games.

I can get LBA (LB1 with GoldFX) to install, and get both to the menu screen, but anytime I try to start Longbow 1, or 2, the game will crash. LB1 just crashes with no message whatsoever, but LB2 gives me an error:

Might be a memory issue. Are you using 2muchmem or one of the other hacks to fool the game into thinking there is only 366 MB? Not sure if this was ONLY for LB2 or the entire anthology.

Okay, sorry to resurrect this, but I just tried getting this to work again on my Win 98 machine. I tried the autoexec edit, but when I limit the memory to 512, the computer won't boot into windows.

The thing I read about the memory problem was that neither Longbow, or Longbow 2 would start at all if you had this problem. They will both start up to the menu screens, and let me navigate them. They just crash to the desktop with an unhandled exception if I try to enter any portion of the game using the flight engine.

IIRC you had to limit RAM to less than 256MB to get Longbow 2 to work. It's odd that your PC isn't booting to windows. I remember this fix helped me on my machine with Windows 98SE when I bought additional 512MB increasing the total amount of RAM from 256MB to 768MB. If you have 2 sticks of 256MB RAM try removing one physically. If you have single 512MB the memory limit fix is the only solution that I know of.

There's also a memory limiter program that lets you change the memory to below 366 Mb AFTER you get into Windows...
