Kinda early for this one in the thread, but, IMHO it really shows who the real musical talent was vs the Drama Queen in the "little" spat they had.

Even though I think Pink Floyd is fantastic I can't really get into the Syd Barrett era albums. The style and sound is just way too much on the psychedelic side for my tastes.

David is a great musician. His voice and playing are superb, even after all these years. Yet he can't write great lyrics (his wife mostly did it) and while his music can be good, it doesn't often stand out.
Roger is a great composer. The songs he wrote with the band stand out above the ones written after he left. His voice and playing were never impressive, though.
Pink Floyd needed them both. It was a case of the sum of the parts being far greater writ large for the world to see.

Waters and Gilmour complemented each other in very much the same way that Lennon and McCartney complemented each other.

The Wall came out when I was 12, and I have been listening to them ever since. A few years later, my experience with their music was enhanced, by recreational activities.
