I used to hate them. Then I drove one. Loved them ever since. A car weighing in at about 19000 lbs changes your idea... Geez, that thing is a little heifer.

Maybe the modern New Beetles (1997 - current) can be easily classified as chick cars, but the original ones that had their run from the 1938 until 2003 were just as much a man's car as anything.

Yup. I never thought much of them, until I had to drive a '94 across town. Fell head-over-heels after 2 turns. And I have Ford Blue running thru my veins. Almost got kicked out of the family when I picked up a red '97. Miss that car so much. So I'll go with, if it has a flower vase in it it's a chick car. You got me. I have a hard time arguing against that one.

Being a former S2000 owner, I'm biased. We have better weight distribution, more power and torque, a sexier engine note, and just a little bit more weight.

If you think a miata is a chick car you have never flogged one around a track. I think if it wasn't a chick car and I attempted to flog it there would be clear indications I was wrong long before the first turn, on account of the car penis.

The wife and I were having this conversation this morning when she was waxing philosophical about the new Shelby Mustang and I teased that they were going to pull her "chick card" for wanting a muscle car instead of a Beetle. She made a very crude hand gesture at me said some very harsh things at the same time.
So it got me thinking about why the old Bug was a Guy Car but the new Beetle is a Chick Car.
Cooper Mini - Guy car.
Miata - Chick car, but can be driven by metrosexuals and gender role confused guys.
Beetle - Chick car.
Jeep Wrangler - either way, but the chick has to be hot.
Smart Car - Chick car, but the kind that shouldn't be driving Jeeps. And really, really weird dudes.
And I don't really have an answer. Hey, you better clarify Beetle. New Beetle=Chick Car Vintage Beetle=Unisex

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.
