Maybe the modern New Beetles (1997 - current) can be easily classified as chick cars, but the original ones that had their run from the 1938 until 2003 were just as much a man's car as anything.

The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

There's a guy in my area drives a bright pink Nissan micra.
He is married and has kids, My wife asked me with a smirk on her face one day, would I drive his car if I was Stuck for transport, my reply only in a medical emergency. LoL, my point is I would drive any make or model Car but colour that's a different story.

I have never understood the "Bud Case" in the Beetle, yes I know it's for cut flowers, but is there a story how it got to be a trademark option in a VW?

So I'll go with, if it has a flower vase in it it's a chick car.

Yup. I never thought much of them, until I had to drive a '94 across town. Fell head-over-heels after 2 turns. And I have Ford Blue running thru my veins. Almost got kicked out of the family when I picked up a red '97. Miss that car so much.

If you think a miata is a chick car you have never flogged one around a track.

Being a former S2000 owner, I'm biased. We have better weight distribution, more power and torque, a sexier engine note, and just a little bit more weight.

V-6 Mustangs with automatic transmissions. Those are chick cars.

I have an S2000 as well, and while I don't feel strongly about guy cars and chick cars, I do think that a driver's car (which seems to me to be the most relevant category) tends to include light weight, excellent handling, decent acceleration, and a manual transmission. Those characteristics allow one to drive the car rather than be driven by it, and the sheer pleasure of driving a car at its limit seems to me to be the point.

I cheated and googled "List of chick cars". I had completely forgotten about the Pontiac Sunbird, GeoTracker, Dodge Neon, and Honda Fit.

One car list was any car that's Teal, Purple, or a Minivan.

Ha! You see a guy in a minivan, and you know he is a stud. Literally.

I used to work at a bike shop. One day Hubert Davis pulls up, in a late model Honda minivan. He seemed quite manly to me.

I think if it wasn't a chick car and I attempted to flog it there would be clear indications I was wrong long before the first turn, on account of the car penis.

So it got me thinking about why the old Bug was a Guy Car but the new Beetle is a Chick Car.

Cooper Mini - Guy car.
Miata - Chick car, but can be driven by metrosexuals and gender role confused guys.
Beetle - Chick car.
Jeep Wrangler - either way, but the chick has to be hot.
Smart Car - Chick car, but the kind that shouldn't be driving Jeeps. And really, really weird dudes.

And I don't really have an answer.

Hey, you better clarify Beetle.

New Beetle=Chick Car
Vintage Beetle=Unisex

Girl car...wife's 03 Jeep Liberty.

Man "car", my 91 Dodge W150

My 97 Jeep TJ Sport could be either but the wife's afraid to drive it. So I agree, mostly man car or hot chick car.

That truck looks redneck.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Similar to the Miatas, my car gets the chick car label a lot too. But 50/50 weight distribution, a 1:12 HP to weight ratio and a dropped suspension on 45 and 40 series staggered tires helps me not get too bent out of shape about it. driving

I think we'll all agree that the classic VW Bug was all man. Heck, I owned a '67 Bug once myself.

Man car:

The Beetle as it is now is all girl.

Chick car:

That Blue 67 bug is just like the one I learned to drive on! AM radio and great in the snow. (Which is important because you had to be moving for the heat to work!)
