I have been happily flying all my sims with my beloved Philips 21,5 " 227EL but lately I have been thinking about purchasing a bigger, home cinema-like monitor for about 300 €. What dou you guys fly with,...? Any ideas are sure welcomed for this tech newbie here.

If you wait a little longer, you can get one of the new monitors that use G-Sync (if you use a Nvidia 6XX card or newer) and kill two birds with one stone.

CPU = i9 11900K
GPU = RTX 3080 Ti
Monitor = ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQX 2160p G-sync

I am planning on splurging and buying a 34in 21:9 monitor come tax time.Many are saying its like triple screen setup but with ease of just one monitor and that its great for sims.Does WOFF support 3440 x 1440 resolutions though?

Some time ago I tried out my big flatscreen TV (TOSHIBA REGZA) - that was like being there
in the air, in the cockpit. I was ca. 2 feet away fro it's surface, and it looked great.
Must actually do that again.

I has a 22" Acer for a long time (now my secondary monitor for maps) and changed for a 27" Iiyama, find it the right size for me. Haven't got enough space for anything bigger anyway smile2

I still think 16:10 monitors were better suited for flight sims than 16:9. And I see some people thinking about 21:9 !!

I have had a 28" Viewsonic monitor for about a year now and am very happy with it.
In fact,after this, I could never go back to anything smaller.

I use a 24 and love it. I could totally see going slightly bigger, but for daily normal use it would be a bit cumbersome. If you are looking into a new monitor just make sure it plays well with games. My Dell totally has ghosting issues that can't be fixed because they don't have an option to disable overdrive. (Overdrive is used to make the images appear faster, but will cause ghosting.) So just do a lot of research before ponying up for a new monitor. While I like my current one I wouldn't buy it again if I knew about the overdrive setting beforehand.

I have a three screen wrap around arrangement at 3840 x 1024. Combined with Track IR the peripheral vision it affords really increased my situational awareness, and made combat in a wide variety of sims much more enjoyable.

I also have a three screen Eyefinity setup. Centre screen is an LG 19" and the two outers are Samsung 19". I run WOFF on a small SSD (Intel 60Gb) with my AMD 965 o/c to 4Gb and ASUS HD7750 1Gb memory o/c from 840 to 1000. The Eyefinity setup definitely slows the fps but I am happy at 40.

I went from a 24" ASUS monitor (1920 x 1080) connected via HDMI to a Koren 27" IPS (2560 x 1440) connected via DVI. There are 27" non-IPS versions, but I wanted the IPS ones.

Pros
- Colors are more accurate with dark blacks and vibrant colors. (main reason for me to buy IPS)
- Planes and distant objects are well defined and no need to squint.
NOTE: it is such a night and day difference in graphics between my 1080 and 1440 that the first time you see it, it's like WOW!!
- Can see a bit more game real estate.

Cons
- Need a better video card to run the same graphics settings
- Price is twice or three times that of a non IPS display
- Need larger area due to the monitor's size
- Korean monitors need to be bought from a reputable dealer.

Overall, I'm happy with the switch, and now I have an excuse to spend money on a better video card.

With two screens it was not so good because the screen surrounds were in the middle of the view. The other annoying thing is that the card required three separate adaptors - DVI to d-sub, HDMI to d-sub and DisplayPort to d-sub. Luckily the first one came with the card.
The strange thing is that when I reboot the bios displays and the boot selection screens appear on the two edge screens. The middle one stays blank until Windoze boots up. You may all wonder why I have three 19" screens and not something bigger - the reason is that only the LG screen is mine - the other two I have 'borrowed' from work where they were not used as the pc's they were connected to stopped working and are not to be replaced. Waste not want not as they say ....

I have an old Matrox TripleHeadToGo box, and an EVGA GTX 670 video card, but you can run three screens directly off the newer Nvidia cards.
