Don’t ya just hate when that happens?! You’re driving along with no seatbelt on, munching on a delicious peach while listening to a sweet tune on the radio when all of a sudden you see a policeman in front of you, pointing at you like a frazzled maniac, waving you off to the side of the road?
My charge? (by radar) - 70 kph in a 50 zone Canadian (45 mph in a 30 zone American) ... $95 ... 3 demerit points. Good. Moving on.

I've always been guilty and have always just paid up. So many times I lost count after a certain double digit number. Been a long time since my last...knock on wood. Cheaper to get a car that's still fun at the speed limit. LOL

I can't believe all you lot slagging him off like you never go 1mph over the speed limit?! If you say you don't I call you a liar. 1 or 10mph, over is over and illegal so get off your high horses.

no sympathy for speeders, hope they bleed you dry. I'm afraid I agree. Let the tickets fly. The sign doesn't say "Please try to go 50", or " About 50", or "50 When you feel like it". The sign simply says 50 and the consequences of not following the speed limit are known to people who have never even driven a car in their life. Having had friends and family killed and injured in car accidents because of people drinking and driving, and speeding, and having watched while an SUV blew through a Stop sign and plowed into the car my wife and kids were in (no injuries, the kids were in ski gear with helmets on, thank you God), I have no sympathy, none, not a shred, for those who endanger others because they think the rules of the road are only for other people.
Question everything!

Oh come on guys, you can't all be serious that you ALL drive the speed limit. There's this whole holier than thou thing going on.
I'm not saying rocket down residential streets, but you're acting like he just blew up an orphanage.
I work as an EMS professional. I go to far more accidents caused by idiots driving too slow than speeding.
The no seatbelt thing is what it is. If you're an adult, and you decide not to wear a seatbelt, then that's on you. Ain't gonna tell you how to live your life.

Seriously, if it's too high up there on your horse, get off.

While I can relate to your decision to drive to conditions of the road regardless of the posted limits, wear your damned seatbelt. It won't just help in a wreck, but keep you in the seat if you have to take rapid action to avoid one, keeping you firmly in place to work the controls.
And what sort of luddite government do y'all have up there? Down here one pays speeding tickets online and avoids the court costs.
My last ticket was about a year ago, and it could have been a gollywhomper if the cop hadn't been a decent fellow. They've been widening I-20 out of Birmingham to Talledega and usually the traffic is such that the 45 MPH posted limit is wishful thinking, and the bit where it drops to 35 MPH becomes a crawl. But one morning when I was driving out to fly the Champ there was no traffic and, more importantly, no ongoing construction. So I'm tooling along listening to the radio and grinning at the fact that it's just me on the road when Mr. State Trooper pulls out and pings me with his lights.
"Did you know you were going 50 miles per hour?" "I do now," I grinned back. Heck, CAVU with winds at one, variable? Nothing is going to tamper my mood. "Any reason for speeding in a construction zone?" "Heck, look around," I countered, "clear skies, dry road, and there ain't nobody on it but you and me." He got a wait-a-minute look in his eye and surveyed the road. Empty. Weird. "Well, you just crossed into the 35 MPH zone, so I'm gonna write you for going 49, and mark no workers present and no other traffic. You can pay online or go to court."
Hundred and eighty bucks, but if he hadn't kept it at under 15 over would have been a hundred bucks more - and if he hadn't marked NO WORKERS PRESENT it would have been doubled,
I figure one ticket every fifteen years or so is okay.
