Can anyone recommend any P-51D throttle axis tuning or if there is a need for it?

What is your throttle doing, or for that matter not doing, that makes you want to tune it, Bud? I tuned all my other axis controls because the airplane was almost quite literally unflyable. I could barely keep it in the air. Now I'm killing FW-190'S on a regular basis. But I saw no reason to touch the throttle.

It is not that I am having problems with my throttle other than I can not achieve the speed and climb rate when flying against the 190 or another 51D and wondering what might help me get some speed out of my plane? I do get a kill (but seldom) on the 190, but never on the AI 51D. Did get a kill on a Mig-15 in MP last night and was able to maintain speed and energy through out mission. But in my own 1v1 missions, against 190 and 51D it is not the same.............so the reason for the question. Also, busting the emergency wire on the throttle does nothing to increase power or speed for me.
Hope that I made myself a clear and thanks for any interest here.

The trouble with fighting the AI is that they are pros at getting the best performance out of their engines and airframes. I know you've been around flight sims for a while so you already know that.
The Mustang was tricky for me when I first got it. I wasn't enjoying it much at first. I had to learn a lot that I thought I already knew. Make sure you set your prop pitch to where you can run the throttle all the way up and keep it there without blowing your engine. I learned that the hard way when my engine kept seizing on me in the middle of the fight. And make sure you've trimmed your airplane so that you have as little drag as possible.
The AI out climbs me all the time. He keeps going up, effortlessly, while I'm on the verge of a stall. But I've learned how to get that sucker. I just don't keep pulling my nose up, let him stay a little higher and DON'T lose sight of him. He'll finish climbing and come down and just keep your nose on him. He climbs and then eventually drops down and you just follow him down.
I got the hang of the '86 a lot quicker. There's not much engine management to do which makes the pilots workload a lot easier. I love it!

Tell me more about how you set your prop pitch?
Thanks,

With throttle full forward set your prop pitch to 2800 RPM. Leave it there and don't touch it again. Now you don't have to worry about over revving your engine during the fight. It's one less thing to worry about. Keeping the engine revolutions under 3000 RPM will help to keep your manifold pressure under 60 inches, too. 3000 RPM and 60 inches of manifold pressure are your two red lines for that Rolls Royce that will make it sieze.
