I started a new fighter pilot career in the summer of 1916, RNAS 3 which had a mix of Pups and Nieuport 11s. I didn't survive long enough to get to fly the Pup. So my first question, is there a set or random number of days one must serve in a squadron before getting to "upgrade" one's airplane? If it's a minimum, what is that minimum?

Second question...is there an easy way to limit a pilot to a single sortie a day, or advance a few days/weeks to simulate being on leave or grounded for weather? If not, how do I do that the hard way?

To activate the Time Advance button you have to go to the Workshops and set Auto/Manual time advancement to On. Otherwise you won't see it.

And yeah! Welcome to WOFF!

Much obliged Robert, you answered my time question. I've tried both of those edit options highlighted in the first screenshot, figured out how to add rockets and edit the flight's formation. But if I understand correctly, as an enlisted pilot, I will upgrade after all the officers. Fair enough.

I'm on the road at the moment so I'll explore those pages in game when I get home.

Cheers!

New/better aircraft are given to pilots based on rank. So, if you want dibs on those aircraft try starting a campaign with a high rank, or claw your way to the top.

Roger that,. The squadron had 6 Pups available, but only 3 or 4 historical aces were assigned them. I appreciate the insight. Next time I'll start as an officer.

You advance pretty quickly, you can go up a rank in as few as ten missions that I am sure of, so sometimes it's fun to work your way up, depending on how much flying time you have. Judicious use of time advance is also necessary if you ever want one pilot to see a significant portion of the war...

The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...
