Lots of interesting stuff - thanks for sharing, dkol! I like that close look on an aviator's goggles most - they seem to have had little hinges, so the angle between the front and the side glass could be varied, depending on the flyer's head.

Those goggles are rather similar to the RAF Mk VIII goggles used in WWII and after. Are they German?
