Main effort:

And again a defense operation for my CT. I wanted a more offensive part in this mission, but my colonel said: "NO, I need your tanks for the counterattack Captain!". Sir yes Sir, but its hard for my tankers, they want to fight with their Leopards.

So this was my plan for this mission:

1st plt:
Defend and hold bp 1.
In bp 1 over watch with main effort to the south (bridge SERGEI).
On my order counterattack HEINRICH.
On my order go to bp 4 and over watch to north-east (Route TROJAN).
On my order fall back to bp 6.

2nd plt:
First postion in bp 2.
Hold bp 2.
On my order fall back to bp 5.

3rd plt CHARLY):
Charly is Reserve,
Adapt to support in bp4 and 3.
On my order counterattack HEINRICH.

XO:
Establish HQ in SA3 with all company support/ supply vehicles.
XO tank in bp 3 overwatch along main road to south west.

Resere:
Go to area of RES.
Prepare to support in bp 1, 2, 3 and 4.
On my order counterattack HEINRICH.

Counterattack HEINRICH:
1st plt go to bp 4 left of CHARLY, hold, over watch.
2nd plt hold position in bp2.
3rd plt stay in bp4.
XO stay in bp 3.
On my order we attack with BRAVO plt left and CHARLY plt right in line formation.
I will follow behind, between 2nd and 3rd plt.

Fire at will.
If your vehicle is in position, turn engines off.

4.Support and Supply
Medic:
First aid,
Medic support via XO,

mobility kill:
pop smoke,
report to XO,

supply:
Supply in SA 4 or in bp.
Request to XO

5.leading elements
Radio is open to all.

Questions?

D u k e
OC 2./203 CT Achilles

So now we start.
In the map now you see all units and they have different colors.
Blue/white: German CT and Combat support (engineers, arty etc..) and recce.
Purple: US CT
Green: ZSU forces
Yellow: Canadien CT
Brown: UK CT
Red: Russian forces

x+5

Our recce guys have contact and the first situation reports came over the radio net.
I ordered my Bravo plt more to the south.

x+10

No time for dreaming, the russians attack with tanks in front the canadien and uk guys.

x+15

The situation for the canadiens was critical. They lost a platoon of Leopards very quick.
The UK CT got also the first casualties and tried to withdraw in formation.
But red was attacking very powerful. They started also an attack with their Speznaz forces in BILOPILLYA.
These forces were supported with HIND combat helicopters.
Our Cdr ordered the ZSU forces to clear the situation there.
I ordered my reserve platoon to bp 4 to overwatch to the north.

The guys in my CHARLY plt came from france and they know how to use Leopards.

And red was pushing, pushing and pushing.

x+20

The canadiens could break contact and withdraw succesfully to their new position. They have wounds, but they are alive. Now the UK forces came in trouble. They have tanks south, south west and east of their position.
They stopped their withdraw, dismouted and dig in.
My BRAVO plt in bp2 reported enemy choppers south. Maybe they start an Air Assault to take the bridges in our sector. Also my ALPHA platoon reported choppers. Fire at will...

Bravo also reported T-90s. I gave them permission to fire, to take out some pressure of the UK CT.

x+25

The Canadiens are save. The UK is encircled. The US CT has a reinforced tank company in front and red established a bridgehead in front of us.
During this time red engaged my company seargent with Arty, they hit the truck with our combat rations.

My company seargent had luck, because we had a short meeting in the company HQ during the arty fire.
Red must be very desperate, if they start arty fire to single trucks.

x+30

The stage was prepared for the US forces. Assassin7 (OC of US CT) attacked forward and engaged the enemy tank company very succesfully.
My ALPHA and BRAVO platoon spotted more tanks and PCs in the south.

by the way, good shooting of my guys, the distances was over 3000m.
The BRAVO platoon leader (Eisenschwein) suggested to fall back with the platoon and I said yes.
Over the radio net I heard the leader of our helicopters. Sounds good they are flying in to engage the enemy hardware in EA north and EA south.

x+35

The situation is like x+30, red tried to flank us from the west, but our choppers are comming in.
ALPHA is still engaging red forces in the south.

chopper sounds...

x+40

You can see a blocking FASCAM mission behind the red Medic and our Tiger and Apache helicopter at work.
Also our Arty was firing mission per mission to help the UK CT.

x+40

During this time we had 2 hot spots. The first was in BILOPILLYA. The ZSU forces had a hard fight against the Speznaz teams. The second was the southern flank of the UK CT. We could not support in this direction.
I checked the status of my platoons. Time for a coffee and some breakfast.

Unfortunatly no combat rations cuss2

x+50

A platoon of M1A2(SEP)s attack to the southeast to block the russians and to save the eastern flank of the UK CT.
Our Cdr ordered the helicopters to help the UK CT.

x+55

no changes

x+60

no changes

x+65

The mission was over, my CT is still combat ready. Red lost 100 vehicles and we 31.
My company seargent got a new truck from the BG HQ company.
My BG Cdr made a short visit and told me:"Well done Captain and now prepare your CT for the counterattack".

Yeahhh I will do, SIR...

But before we start, here some impressions after the battle.

Love the photos of Mission 2, except the second one of one of my burning ASLAVs. Still, it was a tough fight and ASLAVs can't even stop 14.5 mm frown Although the third screenshot reminds me we did bring some of our wounded home.

UK CT:
1 CR2 total loss, 1 operational needing resupply, 1 immobilized with ammo store(??!!), 1 main gun damage.
Warriors were pretty much wiped out and we lost a unit of Mortars.

Interesting, it's very difficult to see the remaining UK CR2s in those maps. Looked like they had all been wiped out.

If I read the HTML file properly, my brethren lost 7 tanks, but took out 20? Almost 3-1, but terrible attrition. Good thing the next phases don't require them to be the main effort anymore (and this is obviously why it was planned that way, of course).

Still, sad. frown

Well that's the tipping point of a delay.

Leave too early and you don't do the job.

Stay too long and you attrit the enemy but risk being decisively engaged.

I intend to write some from the BG perspective.

So 4 x missions with snapshots / commentary from the 5 x CTs involved.

Great AAR.

That multi-commander perspective/view of the battle is a great idea.
